Avian influenza (AI), an acute virus infectious animal disease, is caused by the influenza A virus. It is classified as a listed disease by OIE. Prophylaxis of avian influenza virus (AIV) infection relies mainly on extensive vaccination. This study was aimed to evaluate the immune effect of avian influenza vaccine in Guangde area, which could contribute to comprehensive prevention and control of this disease in this area.Three antigens (Re-0, Re-4, Re-5) were evaluated in the detection of antibody levels against H5N1 avian influenza by hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay in Guangde area. The results showed that all the three diagnostic reagents could meet national requirements for epidemic prevention. In broilers, it was better for detection of HI antibody with Re-5 used as the diagnostic reagent, while in chickens, HI antibody levels were higher with Re-0 than with Re-4 and Re-5 as diagnostic reagent, but the difference was not significant, he tot t=measuresovehelp nesFor three consecutive years, three avian influenza vaccines from different manufacturers were vaccinated to Five Ridges yellow chickens and broilers in 80 scale farms in Guangde area. After 21d, the chicken farms were randomly sampled and the Re-5 strain was used as antibody detection reagent for HI test. The results showed that, the use of different vaccines resulted in great differences in immune antibody levels of broilers, and the vaccine of C manufacturer had the best immune effect. In chickens, the immune responses stimulated by three vaccines were good, and both antibody levels and antibody qualification rates reached immunization requirements for prevention and control programs of major animal diseases in Anhui Province. It is helpful for improving immunization program by monitoring the antibody levels against avian influenza and evaluating the immune effect of different vaccines.According to an in-depth investigation on prevention and control measures against avian influenza in Guangde area, we summed up the comprehensive prevention and control measures, and work practices based on immune prevention, drug prevention, management and disposal measures. The experiences will be helpful to further improve the local control measures against avian influenza and will have a good reference to carry out the major animal disease prevention and control work.
