Zingiberaceae genus is the new and excellent ornamental plant, China has a large number of Zingiberaceae resources that can used for ornamental purposes. However there is a few Zingiberaceae genus have been applied to potted plants in China. The main purpose of this study is to cultivate new ornamental potted plants of the Zingiberaceae. Therefore, this article start from the Zingiberaceae genus collection and evaluation, taking the Alpinia oxyphylla as an example, explore potted plants and hydroponic applications of Zingiberaceae. Study the effects of different hormone about induced roots, different kinds of combinations of different nutrient solution concentration, different nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium combination, different pH value and different light intensity on A. oxyphylla. The main findings are as follows:1. By the way of investigate literature, specimens, wild and germplasm resources garden, go to Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, I have collected 17 genera and 58 species, 2 varieties, 1 hybrid of Zingiberaceae for ornamental potted plants. There are 14 genera, 46 species and 2 varieties native to China Alpinia pumila, Kaempferia rotunda, Roscoea humeana, Roscoea auriculata, Roscoea cautleyoides, Cautleya spicata which are native plant of China and Alpinia purpurata, Cornukaempferia aurantiflora, Kaempferia pulchra is good.2. Different growth hormone analogs and different treatments on A. oxyphylla aquatic roots induced a significant impact. Use IBA100 mg · kg-1 for 30 min is the best; do not cut root culture can induce more secondary root. After NAA treatment, newly grown roots will be shorten and thickened, but after about a month, the thicker roots will have a large number of secondary root, root growth and recovery.3. Different nutrient solutions and concentration of the test showed that higher doses of the nutrient solution are not conducive to the growth of A. oxyphylla. 1/2 Hoagland is the best, 1 Dewoduo nutrient solution, can use to grouth a green and yellow leaves which has good ornamental value, suitable for small low container hydroponic culture. Higher doses of nutrient solution formula are not conducive to the growth of plant roots. Miraclegro nutrient solution at a dose of 1 and 3/2 is not suitable for educational growth.4. By orthogonal design effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium combination of the growth A. oxyphylla, the best combination for plant growth is: N(168 mg·L-1), P(31 mg·L-1), K(78 mg·L-1), N: P: K = 5.42: 1: 2.52. High levels of nitrogen and potassium in favor of the growth of the trunk, Low levels of nitrogen and potassium in favor of the growth of the tillers.5. pH value was adjusted to 5.0 and light intensity of 60 μmol·m-2·s-1 in favor of the growth of hydroponic A. oxyphylla. It can survive at light intensity 5 μmol·m-2·s-1 and have a good shade-tolerant, so it can be cultivated in indoor ornamental. Its low light compensation point LCP is about 2.8~8.0 μmol·m-2·s-1, light saturation point LSP is 553.952 μmol·m-2·s-1. Photosynthetically active radiation of 1200 μmol·m-2·s-1 may be generated near the light suppression.
