To speed up the cultivation of the rare timber species in our country has become the key task of the forestry work. Fujian province is one of the key forest areas in the south China, the unique natural ecological environment provides a favorable guarantee for the development of Fujian province to carry out the normal cultivation of timber species. Therefore, this study is based on the development of precious timber species in Fujian, and through market research, literature research, expert consultation, data collection and analysis, and probes into the selection criterion of precious timber species in Fujian Province, to select and evaluate the rare timber tree species and divise the afforestation of rare timber species in Fujian,main research results are:(1)The rare tree is defined as:compared with general species, the quantity of rare trees is less than other natural resources,and has obvious value status in economy, biological or ecological functions and any other fields. The definition of rare timber trees as:compared Cunninghamia lanceolata, Populus nigra, Pinus massoniana to other general timber in current market, the market is in short supply and prices of the rare timber species is 3 times higher than Pinus massoniana, Cunninghamia lanceolata wood in the long term,rare timber species generally have high hardness, high strength, strong durability, good dimensional stability, fine texture, bright color and so on, or one of the characteristics is very prominent.(2)To choose the rare timber species in Fujian,the material properties should be excellent (including high hardness, high strength, generally higher density, beautiful color, delicate or unusual texture), and has high market price,scarce resources,lack of market supply,the index of strong breeding performance(strong resistance, fast growth, abundant production, wide distribution).(3) According to the index system above, pick out 61 kinds of rare timber species, including 8 kinds of introduction of cultivation, and the remaining 53 kinds are natural distribution in Fujian. The Leguminosae has 9 kinds,which is the most, respectively as the Ormosia, Dalbergia, Acacia, Pterocarpus, Cassia, Erythrophleum, followed by Lauraceae and Fagaceae,which both has six kinds, mainly as the Phoebe, Cyclobalanopsis, Castanopsis. The difference of air dried wood density, which can be divided into heavy hardwood, hardwood joinery, light and thin wood.(4) The wood property, wood value and tree species suitable fertility are the restriction factor, the density and strength, durability, size stability, structure, texture, color are the 6 wood characteristics, utility value, cultural value, economic value are the 3 indexes, resistance, fast-growing, high yield refer to the importance of evaluation indexes of wood, value and suitable breeding performance respectively,establish the hierarchy model of comprehensive evaluation of rare timber species in Fujian, to evaluate the plantation and selection of 61 kinds of rare timber tree species, the score showed that:there has big difference of comprehensive score of tree species, scoring range from 5.710 to 9.652. Ranking top ten timber species are Senna siamea Erythrophleum fordii、Swietenia mahagoni、Homalium ceylanicum、Dalbergia hupeana、Photinia prunifolia、Zelkova serrata、Ormosia hosiei、Ormosia henryi、Phoebe bournei。(5) According to the classification of 61 kinds of rare timber trees by the characteristics of adapting to temperature, precipitation, elevation, combine with the temperature, precipitation, and other climatic factors and geographic factors in the cities or counties of Fujian, screened suitable breeding performance of tree species.Integrated the the temperature, precipitation, sunshine hours and other climatic factors and geographical conditions, the rare timber tree species in Fujianprovince can be divided into 3 regions,9 forestry district. The area includes:Ⅰ-1 Forestry community of damp-heat type in coastal area of south fujian,Ⅰ-2 Forestry community of damp-heat type in coastal area of southeast fujian,Ⅰ-3 Forestry community of damp-heat type in offshore area of southeast fujian;Ⅱ hilly and mountains region of central fujian, Low coastal mountain forest area of east fujian,the area includes:Ⅱ-4 Forestry community of mild wet type in northwest Bo Ping Ling of west fujian, Ⅱ-5 Forestry community of humid type in west Daiyun mountain of central fujian, Ⅱ-6 Forestry community of Wet and warm type in coastal area of central fujian.Ⅱ-7 Forestry community of wet and warm type in coastal mountain area of northeast fujian;Ⅲ hilly and mountains forest area of northwest fujian,the area includes:Ⅲ-8 Forestry community of humid type in Fujian and jiangxi mountain, Ⅲ-9 Forestry community of humid type in Fujian and zhejiang mountain.(6) Establish scoring formula model:W(A)=0.7 ×a × P1+0.3 × b × P2,to make the climate adaptability evaluation for 61 species of precious timber trees.contrast the ranking results with optimum rearing tree species selection results in nine communities. It results that the top 31 species all belong to the Ⅰ area optimum rearing species list,species from Senna siamea that ranked 12th to the 61th all can be reared in Ⅱ area,93% of the trees in the last 30 species belong to the Ⅲ area optimum rearing species list.it can draw the conclusion that scoring model has a certain guiding significance in the selection of suitable community for tree species.
