In recent years, many experts and enterprises focus on the development and design of fine bunch planting device of millet, but mainly used work principle is hole-type, slot-type and hole-slot-type. The disadvantage is that the damage of seed is serious. In order to solve this problem, this paper uses air-suction millet mechanism of seed that its damage is smallest for research object, starting from improving the design, simulation and experimental study, realizing its precision seeding.In this paper, a air-sucking seed metering device has been improved% designed and tested on the base of the original air-suction millet feed mechanism. To make the improved millet seed metering device meet the requirements of agronomic and quality sowing, the physical and mechanical properties of three different kinds of millet have been studied in this paper, including the results of three-axis measurement size、 sphercity、grain weight、bulk density and the coefficient of static friction statistical analysis. Based on these, the paper designs some kinds of seeding plate and suction hole airflow cleaning device which are most possible, using FLUENT to simulate their airflow field and analysis the simulation results. Finally, multiple experiments of millet seed sowing are carried out on the improved seed metering device. The results show that the structure of seed suction hole is rectangular, and processed into four frustum pyramid structure on the seed plate has the best effect of seed sowing, it is critical that the structure of seed plate solves the problem of aperture blinding and the problem that hole distance is too far apart, the concentration degree of seeds is low. The best work parameters is the vacuum degree of-2KPa, the rotation speed of 28r/min. Performance Indexes are that the average number of seeds per hill at this time is 3.3, right rate of seeds per hill is 89%, right rate of hill space is 94%. The test results provide some help for the research of the precision seeding device of millet. This paper preliminarily realizes millet seeding planting.
