| The rumination, as the specific behavior of ruminants, has a strong correlation with their production, reproduction, stress reaction, disease and other behaviors. Ewes’ ruminating behavior, to some extent, is a reflection of its physical health condition and production level. In recent years, the research on rumination, feeding, social behavior of ruminants such as sheep, cow, camel and so on, has been gradually taken seriously, we hope that the ruminating behavior can be quantified by a mathematical model, and it also can be used as farm animal production monitoring indicator, aiding for management of animal breeding, production, and improvement of production efficiency. However, the detection of ewes’ruminating behavior is still in manual stage, low detection accuracy and strong subjectivity, if there was a method which could detect ewes’ ruminating behavior accurately, it would be significant for the entire livestock industry.This thesis aimed to explore a simple and effective detection system of ewes’ nuninating behavior. The hardware system, as the core devices, composed of a HK-2000B+ pressure sensor and a micro-controller (Arduino) control panel, and the software detection platform which based on LabVIEW2015, were designed for signal acquisition, signal processing, and information management functions such as data storage, statistics, acquirement of ewes’ruminating behavior. Finally, the feasibility of the entire program was analyzed through experimental data. Then, the number and time of ruminating happening were detected using this system, also the ruminant law of ewes within a period of time was analyzed.Preliminary results showed that this system can achieve the real-time detection of individual ewes’ruminating behavior, the accuracy rate can reach 90%. In addition, the system also has simple and friendly interface and easy operation, established a theoretical basis of further study on ewes’ ruminating behavior. |
