Small irrigation and water conservancy channel is one of the main components of irrigation and water conservancy project construction, at the end of the irrigation canal system and direct distribution in the fields, large amount of area wide, its design and construction quality directly affects the construction of irrigation and water conservancy engineering and using effect, so it must be designed correctly and reasonably, construction process and quality must be controled strictly so that to fully guarantee the anti-seepage effect and durability of the channel.As one of the main components of farmland water conservancy construction, a wide range of channel, it’s design and construction quality directly affect the construction and use of irrigation projects. Although new forms of U shape, arc toe trapezoid and arc channel bottom trapezoid channel forms are used widely at the present stage in China, but rectangular channel with cross section regular, occupy less land, simple construction process, short construction period, saving investment and construction management experience etc. advantages, is still widely used in farmland irrigation project, and is especially suitable for the area of mountain, lacking cultivated land resources or cultivated land resource efficiency higher. At present, the theoretical research of the rectangular channel is not much. In this paper, the following contents about the rectangular channel are mainly studied:1. On the basis of studying and summarizing the related rectangular channels, according to the uniform flow in open channel principle and rectangular channels section of the hydraulic calculation method, using the empirical relationship between the hydraulic parameters of the rectangular channel hydraulic section, a flow form of different bottom width, depth, gradient is put forward for reference in practical engineering use.2. Introduce structural calculation method of the prime concrete rectangular channels and reinforced concrete rectangular channel, through comparison and selection of lining materials by different sizes of rectangular channels, draw the most economical rectangular channel section structure, and introduce the relationship between the selection of lining material and the side wall of the channel.3. According to the different channel lining materials, for each kind of lining materials, select a typical rectangular section to carry out structure analysis using the Three Dimensional Finite Elements, so as to verify the structural design whether meet the requirements.4. Summarize the design points, construction quality control measures, selection of expansion joints and engineering operation management considerations of concrete rectangular channels.This paper focus on the cross section design, structure design and construction management of the rectangular channel, put out a set of common specifications of rectangular channel flow and section size of material, hope to provide the reference of rectangular channels for the future design and construction as well as similar research.
