Lycopersicum esculentum. Mill, another name for it is tomato, was brought to China in the17 th or the 18 th century. Processing tomato is a kind of ordinary tomato cultivar, is used to be eaten after processing, which contains many kinds of nutrients needed by human beings,particularly it’s high in lycopene which can prevent cancer very well. Tomatoes can be eaten both as fruit and vegetable. It has become a very important health-care food, quite popular in the Americas, Europe, Arabia and the Middle East countries and the other countries.Lycopene is one of the important indicators for valuing the processing tomato. The quality of tomato paste is affected greatly by the raw materials. So if the breeders can get different tomato varieties to meet the requirements of processing is quite important. The quality analysis work is necessary too.After many years of hard working in XinJiang breeding base and in HaiNan, six selfing strains of tomato varieties with distinctive features were successfully cultivated by the Processing Tomato Breeding Center of Shihezi Vegetable Research Institute, they are named as: CIN3078G、F-8、ML48、ES-F-2、ABT410 and L47-D. Their lycopene, soluble solids, titratable acid, a/b value,dry matter content and the weight of single fruit have been studied, after six times of testing on their quality traits index, we got the dynamic change line chart and compared these datum with the results got on conventional test time(the 80 th day). Comparison tests on six quality traits at Peak period were done, the variance analysis on DPS was also made to evaluate the advantages of each strain.The result shows:1.Since the second flower opens, after 66 days, lycopene value reaches it’s peak, 20.1percent higher than its control(the result on 80 th day); Soluble solids reaches maximum on 59 th day,22.4 percent higher than control. For the Weight of single fruit, its peak appears on the 66 th day as well, 54.6 percent higher than its control; We found the maximum a/b value also appears on 66 th day, which is 16.6 percent higher; The minimum titratable acid content is found on the80 th day; maximum dry matter content is on 80 th day as well.2. The average yield of these six strains in one Chinese mu is more than 7500 kg. The strain of F-8 has the largest fruits and the highest yield. The stains CIN3078G、F- 8、ML48 andES-F-2 have low acid; The lycopene content of all these strains are above 15 mg/100 g. Among them, the strain CIN3078 G has the highest lycopene but lowest acid. ABT410 is suitable for processing because of its high solid content; ABT410 and L47-D are fit for drying for their high dry matters; ML48 and ES-F-2, with prominent a/b value, are suitable for further processing.In conclusion, we think that the peak time of different quality characters in different strains occurs in different periods. The optimal testing time for different breeding purpose is when the peak time comes. Thus, it can give guidance to the production and timely harvest, or the high quality ingredients will run off and decrease the economic benefits. All of these strains are high in yield and lycopene, can be extended to large areas.
