In this experiment, the varieties of different growth stages with maize Tong Dan 258、Hua Ke 425、Nong Hua 106. Experiment was carried out at Jilin Agricultural University, Changchun City, Jilin province in 2015. A total of 5 sowing date treatments were T1(April 28th)、T2(May 4th), T3(May 11th)、T4(May 18th)、T5(May 25th). The effects of different sowing date on maize growth, dry matter accumulation, photosynthetic characteristics, grain filling characteristics, grain characteristics and yield were studied. The following are the main results of the study:1、Late sowing will shorten the growth cycle and accelerate the growth process of Maize,the growth period of maize was the longest when sowing in April 28 th,it will plant height and ear height were the highest in the late sowing treatments,the shortest growth period in May 25 th with the delay of sowing date, proper early sowing can delay the growth process, ample time for the accumulation of nutrients, It has a good effect on the growth and development of maize.2、Late sowing can increase plant height and ear height greatly reduced the lodging resistance of corn, Plant height and ear height were the lowest in April 28 th. plant height and ear height were the highest in the late sowing treatments,In the high temperature when late sowing rain can easily cause corn lodging.3、The dry matter accumulation of early sowing maize was higher than that of late sowing treatment. The lowest accumulation of dry matter in the latest sowing date, Appropriate early sowing could increase dry matter accumulation, Sowing date has a great influence on the distribution of dry matter, The proportion of female ear dry matter in late sowing treatment was less than that in early sowing treatment.4、Sowing date had a significant effect on Photosynthetic Characteristics of maize, With the delay of sowing date, the net photosynthetic rate also decreased. Lack of photosynthesis leads to the content of organic matter. In the end, it will lead to the decrease of the final yield of maize kernel, Appropriate early sowing can not only achieve the ideal photosynthetic rate will increase the illumination time has a promoting effect on yield increase.5、Under the T1 treatment, the grain filling rate was the biggest, T4 and T5 treatment grouting rate is the smallest, late sowing can lead to the occurrence of the phenomenon of bare tip and empty pole, Due to the short growth period of late sowing treatment, the filling time is not enough, So the yield of late sowing treatment is lower than that of early sowing treatment, Appropriate late harvest will also increase the filling time, increase production to a certain extent.6、Under T5 treatment, bald rate、empty bar rate and bald length is the highest, the extension of sowing date had a lot of adverse effects on maize seed setting, caused a large number of production cuts. Under T1 treatment, bald rate、empty bar rate and bald length is the smallest, so proper early sowing could prolong the growth period and grain filling time, effective control of bald tip length, bald tip and empty pole phenomenon, it has a great effect on improving the yield of maize.
