Nowadays, as the urban environment is worse and worse,citizens’ calling for "garden city", "ecological city" and "livable environment" is higher and higher, and their demand for urban green space environment is increasing.The park green space is the main part of urban green space, and the main content of the park green space is plant landscape. Thus,the plant configuration is directly affecting the park landscape effect.The urban riparian park is a characteristic part of urban green space ecology system.As its strip shape, waterfront location, the urban riparian park not only connects the nodes in urban green space system, but also becomes the urban ecological corridor. Taiyuan is a typical riparian city in the loess plateau region. The Fenhe Park is a special large banded public open space in Taiyuan. It is a "window" and a "corridor" in Taiyuan city, winding from the north to the south through the center of the city. Its’ ecological function was very essential for the whore urban ecological structure.Setting Taiyuan Fenhe Park as anexample, this paper analyzes related concepts, basic theory and methods of plant configuration in the urban riparian park ecological optimizing. Then the paper discussed the existing problems of Fenhe Park in Taiyuan, seeking for the ecological plant configuration mode of the urban riparian park ecological optimization in the loess plateau region.Firstly, the paper is based on the background that the urban residents demands’ for the waterfront ecological environment is higher and higher.The paper analysis the present status of urban riparian zone ecologization, waterfront plant configuration and ecological restoration both at home and abroad,summarizing the development’s trend and the researching hot spots of the waterfront ecological corridor and the waterfront plants’ configuration.According to the ecological theory of the urban river corridor and the general rules of plant configuration in urban riparian park, the paper presents the significances, contents, steps and methods of the study on city riparian park ecological optimization in loess plateau area. The paper emphasizes the aim of the research is building a complete urban ecological system and maintaining the landscape ecological pattern. And then the paper explained the concepts of the "urban riparian park", "corridor", "the loess plateau region", "plant community", "plant configuration" and other related, defining the scope of the research.The paper builds the theoretical system of ecology, botany, psychology and other aspects involved,and clearly puts forward the research views,objects and methods of the urban riparian park plant configuration optimization,Secondly, setting Taiyuan Fenhe park as an example, the paper made the investigation of current situation, analysising discussing the topic on the basement of research questionnaires, drawings and statistical data. On a macro level, the paper basing on the theory of ecological corridor in cities, refers to the theory of river ecological corridor system and the constituent elements in urban ecology and landscape ecology. The paper analysis the present structure and function of Fenhe park’s ecological corridors,and summarizes the problems of human disturbance, corridor structure, revetment structure form, etc.On a medium level, the research emphasis the importance of the plant community stability in the urban river corridor and ecological environment improvement,basing on the ecological community theory. guided by the theory of ecological communities, highlights the reasonable necessity of plant community configuration. The paper analysis the survey result of the arbor, shrub and herb’s proportion, and the dominant species,summing up related problems of each part’s plant community characteristics and the dominant species in Fenhe park.On a micro level,the paper using the basic theory of environmental psychology and environmental behavioristics, carefully studied the tourist questionnaire interview records.It analysised the interaction relations of the visitors recreation space and plant configuration in urban riparian park.The paper summed up the problems of top-covered dynamic activity space, and the arbor, shrub and herb’s combination, etc.Finally, the paper analysised Taiyuan Fenhe park’s present problems.It putsforward there ecological optimization principles in the view of the macro level,the meso level and the micro level.
