Xinjiang is the largest tomato production base of China, at present, the tomato transplanting relies mainly on artificial transplanting, the level of automation of transplanter is relatively low, and meanwhile, the transplanting efficiency is not high. At the present stage in domestic research, tomato auto transplanter is used to adopt double helix screw to complete the traverse intermittent feeding of seedling tray, while longitudinal intermittent feed by sheave structure. Mechanical system is simple, but it has the greater mechanical vibration, lower efficiency. Therefore, a study on seedling tray transporting apparatus control system to achieve horizontal and vertical sending seedlings and improve the efficiency of seedling tray delivery device, which has a certain reference value aiming at large-scale transplanting tomato and improving the efficiency. This article focuses on study and design of the seedling tray transporting device and control system. The main research is as follows:(1) By the control requirements analysis of seedling tray transpoting apparatus, the control parameters of control system were determined and the demand of control system was nailed down. Then, to determine the overall design scheme of control system in seedling tray transporting apparatus.(2) Based on the control requirements, operational principle, and the overall design scheme, determine the control parameters of control system,and confirm the hardware type selection of control system.In the seedling tray transverse conveying device, the core of control system hardware is CS20-1 axis stepper motor controller. In seedling tray longitudinal control system, the control core hardware is FX1S-20MT-D PLC.(3) By setting the control parameters of the single-axis stepper motor controller, programming the longitudinal feed control program to achieve seedling tray vertical delivery device to send seedlings. The control system software of seedling tray vertical delivery device adopts GX Works2 programming software which was supported by Mitsubishi FX1S-20MT-D PLC. Both above-mentioned control system programs contain the design of main program, signal acquisition program, and control output program. With the communication between Mitsubishi PLC and weinview touch screen, the parameter can be settled on touch screen to control the seedling tray transverse conveying device work better.(4) Building a test bench of seedling tray transporting apparatus control system in order to test accuracy of sending tray precision of transverse and vertical conveying apparatus control system separately. Getting the experimental data and then results were analyzed. Experiment shows that, control accuracy reaches over 99% when the seedling tray transverse and vertical conveying apparatus control system Conveyed seedlings. Do experiments on the seedling tray control system to test the success rate of automatic feeding, automatic feeding rate reaches 99.51%. which verify the feasibility of the seedling tray transporting device and its control system design.
