Phyllostachy pubescens is an important bamboo species and the area amounts to more than 3.5 million hectares current in China. It has taken most important place as lumber substitute. In recently decade bamboo area is getting to be greater, what’s more, intensification management and area are increasing. The objective of this essay was to find out the effects of intensive measure on soil quality of Phyllostachy pubescens stands.Through fertilizer and herbicides cultivation experiment on soil, green manure recovery experiment on soil with the long-term intensive management of Phyllostachy pubescens stands, employ the method of BIOLOG to appraisal the effects of soil Microbial functional diversity with fertilizer, herbicides and green manure treatments of Phyllostachy pubescens stands.1) The experiment based on the design of the pure nitrogen 500 kg.hm-2 per year as 1 time quantity. It demonstrated that applying either 1 time,2 times,4 times pure fertilizer or 1 time pure oil cake or 1 time mixture of oil cake and fertilizer, had the tremendous negative influence on soil microbial activity. The microorganism assimilation carbon source’s AWCD was lower than the comparison obviously. Comparatively, the pure fertilizer had big influence on pure oil cake and the mixture of fertilizer and oil cake.2) The experiment based on 3 times quantity of products dosage recommended as a standard. It demonstrated that herbicides to soil microbial activity have no inhibition within a short term;on the contrary they have promotion.Glyphosate exhibited distinctive function among the promoters, the worst one was Methsulfuron methyl,Oxyfluorfen and Butachlor were in the middle.3) The experiment based on 0 time,2 times,3 times,5 times,10 times quantity of products dosage recommended. It demonstrated that different concentrations of Glyphosate to soil microbial activity have promotion on Phyllostachy pubescens stands. The higher the concentration of Glyphosate, the greater the microorganism assimilation carbon source’s AWCD,the better the effect of promotion, the longer the continuation period.4) The object of this study is to test the effects of green manure those are respective control with no vegetation(CK),white clover, green gram, rye grass, the mixture of green gram and rye grass and elousine coracana conducted. It was found that soil microbial biomass carbon(MBC) were more abundant(P<0.05) in the plots planted with green manure than that in the control, and the largest soil MBC was measured in plot with green gram, which was bigger than other treatments. The ability of carbon utilization of soil microbial communities measured by Biolog Eco-microplate characterized as average well color development(AWCD) were improved by green manure compared with control, with two treatments white clover and mixture of green gram and rye grass being higher(P<0.05) than those of other 3 manure treatments, and control being the least.A similar tendency was true for Shannon index calculated based on the optical density of each well but with treatment of mixture of green gram and rye grass being bigger than other manure treatments instead.McIntosh index was found in accordance with AWCD except that there is no difference between green gram and control. It can be concluded that McIntosh index would be a good parameter for soil microbial functional diversity after comparison of AWCD,Shannon index and McIntosh index.White clover and the mixture of green gram and rye grass was the best in improving soil microbial properties.Considering the shade tolerance of white clover is more competitive,so to recommend planting white clover under Phyllostachy pubescens stands to improve soil microbial properties.
