| Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcome of recoveryB(?)hler angle in open reduction and internal fixationfortreatment of the Sandersâ…¢ and â…£infra-articular calcanealfractures. Methods: From March2007to May2009, a total of21patientswith Sandersâ…¢ã€â…£ infra-articular calcaneal fractures weretreated open reduction and internal fixation using recoveryB(?)hler angle,B(?)hler angle≥25°(25°to36°), Average(29°±3.2°).There were12males and9females with anaverage age of35.3(21to60) years. According to Sandersclassification,12cases belonged to type â…¢,9to type1V.Functional assessment was done using the Maryland Foot Score.Patients were followed up including clinical examination,questionnaire-type survey, X-ray photo. Results: Altogether21patients got a mean follow-up of16.5(11to22) months. The mean Maryland Foot Score for theinjured side at the last follow-up was89.7(62to95).8feetwere excellent,11feet good,2feet fair, and none poor. The indexes of calcaneal morphology at the last follow-up had asignificant improvemenl compared with the preoperativeones(P<0.05).Conclusion: Recovery B(?)hler angle in open reduction andinternal fixation can be used to provide stable fixation witha good functional outcome for the Sandersâ…¢ã€â…£ infra-articularcalcaneal fractures and eliminate most hardware problems andcomplications. |
