The elastic modulus of the implant used in clinic is generally higher than the humanbody, when the load is applied, the implant can cause stress shielding, result in absorptionof bone around implant. Decreasing the elastic modulus of the implant can eliminate thestress shielding effect to improve the long-term success of the implant. In this research,pure titanium powder is processed into porous titanium material by laser solid formingmethods, expect the mechanical properties of the material is close to human bone tissue, atthe same time can improve the bonding strength between the implant and bone tissue, andevaluate the biology through relevant experiments, for the clinical application of thematerial, provide necessary theoretical basis and experimental basis.Methods:1. In accordance with the relevant industry and national standards of Biologicalevaluation of medical device GB/T16886,in vitro cytotoxicity test (GB/T16886.5-2003),oral mucosa stimulating test (YY/T0127.13-2009;GB/T16886.10-2005), acute general toxicity test (GB/T16886.11-2011) and hemolysis test (YY/T0127.1-1993;GB/T16886.4-2003),were respectively conducted to evaluate the biological safety of Poroustitanium fabricated by LSF.2. The osteoblasts of SD rats were seeded onto the surface of the Porous titanium andcultured, sand blasted the dense titanium as the control group. Through MTT method,SEM and so on to test the cell morphology and the growth of the cells such as attachment,proliferation and activity expression of alkaline phosphatase.3. Implant the porous titanium and sandblasted titanium implants into the rabbit’sfemoral condyle, The animals were respectively sacrificed at4and8weeks after operation,The healing of bone tissue, bone-implant interface and the growth of new bone in themicropore are observed by X-ray. SEM and VG staining.Results:1. The porous titanium fabricated by LSF has no cytotoxicity, no haemolysis, noacute systemic toxic action and is nonirritating to oral mucous membrane. Suggestingthat the material has good biological safety.2. The osteoblasts seeded onto the surface of the Porous titanium growth well.compared with the dense titanium, the porous surface is favorable for the adhesion andproliferation of the osteoblasts and activity expression of alkaline phosphatase.3. The porous titanium implanted into the annimals has a good biocompatibility.There was a good recovery of bone around the implants. the implant-bone interface havegood osseointegration. the new bone growth into micropore and fill the whole clearance.Conclusions:The Porous titanium fabricated by LSF has good security and biocompatibility,whose elastic modulus is very close to human bone tissue, Furthermore it can promote thenew bone formation around the dental implants and accelerate the bone healing.the newbone can growth into micropore and fill the whole clearance.
