PartⅠ Diffusion kurtosis imaging(DKI) in studying normal humanbrain white matter’s correlation changebetween age and genderObjective:Using diffusion kurtosis imaging technology to measure brainwhite matter’s mean kurtosis value, the brain white matter’s age-relatedchange in normal dispersion kurtosis parameter, and through the meankurtosis value of different gender on two sides of the hemisphere tounderstand something about the normal human brain white matter’schange rule.Materials and Methods:95normal adults (48male and47female) weredivided into5groups:18to30years in first group;30-40years in secondgroup;40to50years in third group;50to60years old in fourth group;over60years in fifth group. They were all respectively had the Brainconventional MR scan and DKI scan. Deal with the raw data by usingDKE postprocessing software: measured centrum semiovale, medipeduncle, posterior limb of internal capsule, corpus callosumsplenium, the frontal white matter, the parietal white matter, the occipitalwhite matter and the temporal white matter’s mean kurtosis value. Used statistics software: analyzed different parts of the same age groupbetween male and female MK value by independent sample T test method;analyzed both sides of hemisphere’ s MK value in the same age group bypared-samples T test method; tested MK mean value at different positions, and drew the line chart; analyzed male and female MK value in differentage groups by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and compared thevalue between two different age groups; analyzed the relationship ofdifferent age groups’ male and female MK value.Results:(1)Different parts of the same age group’s MK values betweenmen and women were different in the first group of medipeduncle, corpuscallosum splenium, the frontal and the temporal lobe white matter; thesecond group of the parietal white matter, the third group of the frontalwhite matter, the fourth group of parietal and occipital white matte, thefifth group of all.(2)There was no difference between left and righthemispheres in different parts of the same age group.(3) There weredifferent male MK values in all parts of positions between the fourth andfifth group; female centrum semiovale between the third and the fourthgroup, the fourth group and fifth group; female medipeduncle MK valuesbetween the second and the third group, the fourth group and fifth group;female posterior limb of internal capsule MK values between the secondand the third group; female parietal white matte MK values between thefirst group and the second group, the fourth group and fifth group; female temporal white matter MK values between the first group and the secondgroup.(4) All positions of the male and female centrum semiovale MKvalues were negatively correlated with age; medipeduncle, corpus, callosum splenium and the temporal lobe white matter MK values werepositively correlated with age. Conclusion: There has some change rule in normal adult’s cerebral whitematter in different ages. Using DKI technology can find microscopicstructure change, and provide the beneficial information for clinicpractice. PartⅡ diffusion kurtosis imaging in the preliminary research ofischemic cerebral infarctionObjective: Chemic cerebral infarction’s parameter values were comparedand analyzed to explore the change rule by DKI technology, andcharacteristic change was finded to provide more information for clinicthrough comparing DKI figure with conventional MR figure.Materials and Methods: Eight patients who had cerebral infarction (twoacute phase and six chronic phase) accepted regular head MR scanning and DKI technology scanning. Post-processing software were used to getparameters figure, measure the parameter, analyze the parameter graphcompared with conventional MR images. Results: In acute phase, it showed that Kmean, Krad, Kax and FA figuresignal were significantly higher than uninjured side uninjured side,Kmean, Krad, Kax values were higher an uninjured side, and FA valueswere slightly lower than uninjured side and have no remarkabledifference. In chronic phase, Kmean, Krad, Kax and FA figure signaldisplayed lower than uninjured side, Kmean, Krad, Kax and FA valueswere all lower than uninjured side. Conclusion: DKI technology in the diagnosis of ischemic cerebralinfarction privides a high clinical value. In acute period, DKI technologycan be more accurate limited the range of lesions and diffuse the situationthan DWI technology. So it is great significant for the acute phase ofcerebral infarction.
