Objective To investigate the impact of serum folate, vitamin B12, Hcy levels inpatients with subclinical hypothyroidism on the pregnancy outcome. Methods Ninety five pregnant and nonpregnant women of childbearing age wereselected from the obstetrics outpatient and physical examination center of the secondaffiliated hospital of fujian medical university. Based on the function of thyroid, thesewomen were divided into three groups, including subclinical hypothyroidism group(30pregnant women), normal thyroid function group (35pregnant women) andcontrol group (30nonpregnant women with normal thyroid function). Then serumfolate, vitamin B12, Hcy and lipid levels etc. were determined and analysised usinganalysis of variance, rank sum test and correlation analysis.Results①Levels of serum folate were significantly lower in the subclinicalhypothyroidism group than in the normal thyroid function group and control group[(9.40±5.02vs.12.65±4.93)ng/mL,(9.40±5.02vs.13.17±4.28)ng/mL,respectively(P<0.05)]; Levels of vitaminB12were significantly lower in pregnancy women than innonpregnancy women[(408.93±194.87vs.589.83±257.23)pg/mL,(442.38±171.80vs.589.83±257.23) pg/mL, respectively (P<0.01)]; Levels of serum Hcy weresignificantly higher in the subclinical hypothyroidism group than in thenormal thyroid function group and control group [(9.16±3.16vs.7.81±2.17)μmol/L,(9.16±3.16vs.7.49±2.23) μmol/L, respectively (P<0.05)].②Levels of TC and LDL-Cwere significantly higher in the subclinical hypothyroidism group than in thenormal thyroid function group and control group(P<0.05).③In pregnant woman, serum Hcy levels were negatively correlated with folate levels(r=-0.26, P<0.05),serum TSH levels were positively correlated with Hcy, TC and LDL-C levels(respectively r=0.25,0.21and0.29, P<0.05).Conclusions①Levels of folate and vitamin B12were down-regulated in patientswith subclinical hypothyroidism during pregnancy, while the levels of Hcy were upregulated;②TSH level were positively correlated with Hcy level in pregnantwomen, while the Hcy level were negatively correlated with folate level;③Levels ofTC and LDL-C were upregulated in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism duringpregnancy.
