Objective:To study the expression and the clinical significance of transforming growthfactor beta1(TGF-β1)and vascular adhesion protein-1(VAP-1)in aortic dissectionpatients.Methods:This case control study was performed at the department of cardiology,cardiothoracic surgery and vascular surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Gannanmedical University from September2012to February2014. Patients with acute aorticdissection(AD)28cases and acute myocardial infarction(AMI)30cases were eligiblecases and health people20cases from physical health examination center wereselected as control group.4ml venous blood was taken at6h,24h and48h from allsubjects and centrifuged at1500r/min for15minutes at4℃after standing at roomtemperature for one hour. The serum was stored at-70℃, and tested byenzyem-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) every six month. One-way ANOVAwas used to compare the concentration of TGF-β1and VAP-1at the same time pointamong three groups and LSD-t test for multiple comparisons. The Pearson correlationwas used to detect relationship between the two indicators. All the results wereanalyzed by using SPSS19.0software and P<0.05was considered statisticallysignificant.Results:1. TGF-β1test results: the mean and standard deviation of TGF-β1in AD groupafter the onset of6h,24h and48h were (744.9871151.8502) ng/ml,(731.1002205.7904) ng/ml and (719.7185192.2933) ng/ml respectively; the mean andstandard deviation content of TGF-β1level in AMI group were (657.0245167.2624)ng/ml,(625.2606180.8910) ng/ml and (595.5158199.8685) ng/ml respectively;the levels of TGF-β1in the control group were (1617.636512.0197) ng/ml,(619.0336108.0152) ng/ml and (613.8099110.3630) ng/ml respectively. The concentrations of plasma TGF-β1in AD Group at6h were higher than thatin AMI group and control group and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05). Multiple comparisons showed that it was statistically significant (p<0.05)between AD group and AMI group, between AD group and control group, but nodifference (p>0.05) between AMI group and control group. The concentrations ofplasma TGF-β1in AD Group at24h and48h were more higher than that in AMIgroup and control group and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). Theresults of multiple comparisons were same.2.VAP-1test results: the mean and standard deviation of VAP-1in AD groupafter the onset of6h,24h and48h were (12334.13912878.6543)pg/ml,(12497.18912166.7204) pg/ml and (12445.74222356.7192) pg/ml respectively;the VAP-1levels of the mean and standard deviation in AMI group were(11198.85431160.2771) pg/ml,(11303.34751668.5745) pg/ml,(11382.13901703.1661) pg/ml respectively; the VAP-1levels of the mean and standarddeviation in control group were (10505.82131488.4343) pg/ml,(10939.7473941.2007)pg/ml,(12109.7418755.3414) pg/ml respectively.The VAP-1plasma concentrations in AD group were higher than AMI group andcontrol group at6h,24h or48h and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.01). Multiple comparisons showed that it was statistically significant betweenAD group and AMI group(p<0.05), between AD group and control group(p<0.01),but no difference between AMI group and control group (p>0.05).3.TGF-β1and VAP-1concentration change with time: the mean and standarddeviation concentration of TGF-β1in AD group at6h,24h and48h were respectively(744.9872151.8502) ng/ml,(731.1002205.7904) ng/ml and(719.7185192.2933) ng/ml. The TGF-β1levels of the mean and standard deviationin AMI group were (657.0245167.2624) ng/ml,(625.2606180.8910) ng/ml and(595.5158199.8685) ng/ml respectively. The TGF-β1levels of the mean andstandard deviation in control group were (617.6365112.0197) ng/ml,(619.0336108.0152) ng/ml, and (617.8099110.3630) ng/ml respectively.The concentration of TGF-β1in AD group and AMI group decreased withprolonged time of onset, but the control group does not have this rule. VAP-1 concentrations in the three groups didn’t change over time.4. The correlation analysis in the same group from three sets of data showed thatthe TGF-β1and VAP-1level of acute aortic dissection were correlated at6hours.Pearman correlation coefficient was-0.368and P=0.049.Conclusions:1. Serum TGF-β1and VAP-1level may be useful for diagnosis of aorticdissection within48hours.2. With time passing, the serum TGF-β1concentrations will decrease in patientsof aortic dissection and acute myocardial infarction.3. At6h point, there was the correlation between TGF-β1and VAP-1. Combinedapplication of TGF-β1and VAP-1may be much better.
