Efficacy Of Topical Immunotherapy In The Treament Of Extensive Alopecia Areata

Objective： To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Topical Immunotherapy usingdiphenylcyclopropenone (DPCP) in the treatment of extensive alopecia areata (AA).Methods：According to the random distribution method randomly selected one side asthe test side， and the other one as the blank control group. Usage： Ordered thepatients clean and wipe up their head before the treatment. During their first visit, a2*2cm2area of each patient’s test side was sensitised with2%DPCP.Two weekslater， for those who experienced no untoward effects, DPCP in escalatingconcentrations (0.001%,0.01%,0.05%,0.1%,0.5%,1.0%, and2.0%) was applied tothe test side at weekly intervals according to the patients’ reaction. Then observe thetreatment and adverse reaction，the target concentration was to maintain the reactionof itching and erythema in the treated areas for24-48h， and also be well tolerated bythem. Patients were instructed to avoid direct sun exposure and wash off the DPCP48h after application，meanwhile observed the topical reaction.During the treatmentavoided any other related drugs and made records.Results:10of12patients completed the treament，6months later the effective ratewas70%，the onset time was6-12weeks，which averaged8.71±3.87weeks.Whilethe effective rate of control group was only10%，the test group was more effectivethan the control group on the basis of Fishier exact Test（P<0.05）.Conclusion: This results of topical DPCP for the treatment of extensive alopeciaareata are consistent with that from home and abroad，this treatment for extensivealopecia areata is effective and safe,and it shall be prolonged spreaded and applied inthe clinic。...
