Objective:Detected the expression of SFRP2and β-catenin by immunohistochemistry in thetissue of prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer, as well as the relationship betweenthe clinical features. Methods:There are45pathologic specimens of prostatic hyperplasia and45of prostate cancerpatients from fujian medical university union hospital. To detect the expression of SFRP2protein and β-catenin by using immunohistochemical sp method.Using SPSS13.0statistical software to analyze the expression differences of SFRP2, β-catenin in tumor and hyperplasia tissues and the relationship among the various clinical features of tumors. Results:In the45cases of prostate cancer and the45cases of hyperplasia of prostate tissue inβ-catenin protein positive rate was71.1%(32/45) and35.6%(16/45), Chisquare testwas statistically significant difference between the groups(P <0.01);SFRP2proteinpositive rate was24.4%(11/45) and66.7%(30/45), the obvious difference betweenthe chi-square test groups (P <0.01).First the45cases of prostate cancer patients withpostoperative pathological grading, and age groups, and then analysis the β-catenin,the expression of SFRP2relationship: the express of β-catenin were61.2%,between the ages of70patients, aged Less than70years old patients with theexpress of β-catenin protein were70%, there was no statistically significant differencebetween the chi-square test group (P>0.05).Ditto analysis the express of SFRP2found: the express of SFRP2between patients with positive expression and agedifference (p>0.05, no statistical significance;Prostate cancer in low differentiation group and positive expression rate of β-catenin was obviously higher than that of highdifferentiation group, SFRP2protein positive expression rate in low differentiationgroup was lower than that in group high differentiation. In the TNM staging ofprostate cancer, Positive expression of β-catenin protein for III+IV group is higherthan that of I+II period group. Positive expression of SFRP2protein for the III+IV group is lower than that of the I+II group.According to the Spearman correlationanalysis, SFRP2expression and lack of beta-catenin membrane expression andectopic expression showed a negative correlation (r=-0.474, P <0.01and r=-0.565,P <0.01); Beta-catenin expression loss and cell membrane ectopic expression werepositively correlated (r=0.741, P <0.01).Conclusions:1. The positive expression of β-catenin in benign prostatic hyperplasia is lower thanthe prostate cancer group, the positive expression of SFRP2in benign prostatichyperplasia is higher than that of tumor tissue, SFRP2and β-catenin proteinexpression is closely related to the occurrence and development of prostate cancer.2. In benign prostatic hyperplasia tissue, β-catenin mainly expression in prostate cellmembrane, and SFRP2mainly expression in prostate cell cytoplasm. In prostatecancer tissues, β-catenin appear ectopic expression or expression is missing, SFRP2expression is cut or reduced at the same time. Its abnormal expression may be an earlyevent of prostate cancer. This may become markers for prevention and early diagnosisof prostate cancer.3. Positive expression of β-catenin and SFRP2in the tissue of prostate cancer iscorrelated with pathologic stage and TNM stage. This may evaluate patient’sprognosis.4. The SFRP2may inhibit cancer and β-catenin may promote cancer. SFRP2andβ-catenin may provide a new way in prostate cancer treatment.
