Objective The purpose of this study was to compare localinflammation and scar formation in New Zealand rabbit muscle aftercryotherapy(CR)and radiofrequency(RF) ablation guided by ultrasound.Method A total of18healthy male New Zealand rabbits were randomlydivided into cryotherapy group, radiofrequency ablation group andcontrol group, leg muscle respectively received cryotherapy andradiofrequency ablation. The levels of serum TNF–α and IL–6weremeasured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expressionof TGF-β1in rabbit muscles were stained by immune-histochemicalstaining. Vancouver scar scale(VSS) was evaluted after treatment.Inflammation and scar in muscle tissues were determined by HEstaining. Result Compared with RF group, the peak value of serum IL-6and TNF-α in CR group appear earlier, the continuative time of serumIL-6and TNF-α is shorter, and their degree of inflammation responseis lighter. The mean score of TGF-β1positivity in the CR group was101.7±40.03and53±31.9in the RF group (P<0.01). The score of VSS inCR group was significantly lower than that in the RF group(2.5±0.55VS8.5±1.05,P<0.01). Conclusion Cryoablation shows lighter inflammationand less scar formationin in rabbit muscle compared withradiofrequency ablation. Objective To explore the value of cryoablation (CA) underultrasound guidance in treatment of breast fibroadenoma. Methods6cases of patients with breast fibroadenoma (9hyperplastic nodules) wereperformed under ultrasound-guided cryoablation. Before and after3,6,9,12months of treatment, patients were given observation withbreast fibroadenoma volume change by ultrasound, vancouver scar scaleand visual analog scale. Results At12months after ultrasound-guidedcryoablation,breast fibroadenoma volume had shrinked considerably(P<0.01), vancouver scar scale (preoperation1.89±0.33, postoperation1.11±0.33, P <0.01) and visual analog scale were improved(preoperation3.60±1.51, postoperation1.44±1.01, P <0.01). ConclusionUltrasound-guided cryoablation is a safe and effective treatment forbreast fibroadenoma.
