Objective:We want to assess whether is the G894T polymorphism of eNOS gene associated with the CHD in the Yanbian area of China.Methods:Cases consisted of98unrelated patients with coronary angiograms, and controls were79unrelated healthy individuals. The severity of coronary artery disease was expressed by the number of affected vessels. The polymerase chain reaction and gene sequencing was done to detect the G894T variant of the eNOS gene. A probability value of P<0.05was considered-to be significant. All statistical analyses were conducted with the SPSS19.0software.Results:1.There were excesses of age, smokers and hypertensives in the CHD of Korean-Chinese nationality of China, and they were significantly different from those of controls (P<0.05); the frequencies of hypertensive in the CHD of Han nationality of China were significantly different from those of controls (P<0.05).2.The genotype distribution was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in the case and control group of both Korean-Chinese nationality and Han nationality. The frequencies of both genotypes and alleles in the CHD of Korean-Chinese nationality: GG75.0%, GT25.0%, TT0%, G87.5%, T12.5%; Han nationality:GG74.0%, GT20.0%, TT6.0%, G84.0%, T16.0%.3.The frequencies of the GG and GT+TT genotypes, G and T alleles, in the CHD and MI of Han nationality were significantly different from those of controls (P<0.05). But we did not find the same result in Korean-Chinese nationality (P>0.05). Neither did it, between the MI and non-MI group of Han nationality (P>0.05).4.There were not significantly differences of each genotypes or alleles between Korean-Chinese nationality CHD and Han nationality CHD. Neither were there in controls (P>0.05).5.There were not significantly differences of each genotypes or alleles among the three kinds of stenosed vessel (P>0.05).conclution:1.G894T polymorphism of the eNOS gene appears to be associated with the CHD and MI in the population of Han nationality, Yanbian area of China. 2.There is no association between the G894T polymorphism of the eNOS gene and the CHD nor MI in the population of Korean-Chinese nationality, Yanbian area of China.3.There is no association between the G894T polymorphism of the eNOS gene and the severity of coronary artery disease.
