| ObjectiveThis study is to explore the better moxibustion time by comparing the outcome in chronic pelvic inflammatory disease(CPID) treated by warming moxibustion of different time, two groups are both on the premise of the same acupuncture formulas, and to show the relevance of time and outcome, further more,to optimize the prescription to help improve the outcome.Methods60patients with CPID were collected from gynecology department and acupuncture department, all of them were divided randomly into two groups, A and B. Both of the groups were treated by the same acupuncture and warming moxibustion but with different moxibustion time. A group was10minutes per point while B group was20minutes. Before and after treatment, their data were collected and assessed according to the symptoms and signs of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Finally, we established and analyzed the database by statistic software.Result1. After treatment, the healing rate and total effective rate of A group is6.90%and75.86%respectively as well as B group is20.69%and93.10%respectively. There is a significant difference between them(P<0.05). It shows that basing on the same formula, the short-term outcome of moxibustion for20minutes per point is better than that of10minutes.2. According to two groups’ scores about signs, symptoms and B ultrasound before and after treatment, their scores both decrease after treatment (P<0.05) while B group is obvious (P<0.05), it indicates B group is better than A group in terms of improving signs and symptoms, especially in lower abdomen pain, low back pain, leucorrhea abnormality, dysmenorrhea and menstrual blood quality.B ultrasound’s effective rate in two groups is82.76%and89.66%respectively.The later ’s effect is better.3. The comparison of two groups’s outcome in different degree, they have the similar effect in slight degree, but B group is better in middle and severe degree(P<0.05).Therefore for middle and severe degree patients require20minutes per point of moxibustion to reach effect.4. The comparison of different pattern of syndrome, the outcome in patten of cold-damp coagulation is better than in intra-group(P1<0.05). While in inter-group, two groups have the similar effect in patten of Qi-stagnation and blood stasis (P2气>0.05) and B group is better than A group in patten of cold-damp coagulation (P2寒<0.05). It reveals acupuncture and moxibustion is more suitable for patient in cold-damp coagulation and it will improve the effect by prolonging the time of moxibustion.5. The outcome of B group has no significant relevance to patients’course of disease (P>0.05) exclude age (P<0.05). It shows that there is a similar effect on different course of disease and better outcome for the young and middle-aged.ConelusionsAcupuncture combined with warming moxibustion is an effective method for CPID in the TCM patten of Qi-stagnation and blood stasis and cold-damp coagulation. And in this study that basing on the same formula, the short-term outcome of moxibustion for20minutes per point is better than that of10minutes, it shows that it is meaningful to extend the moxibustion time for improving the clinical outcome and decreasing the recurrence rate. Moreover, this method is suitable for different course of disease and it is valuable to clinical applications. |
