| [Background] duodenal diverticulum are found in3.2%to26%of patients who undergo an ERCP(endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography, ERCP).Published studies confer conflicting results regarding the true impact of duodenal diverticulum on the technical success and main complications of ERCP.[Objective] To investigate the relationship between duodenal diverticulum and choledocholithiasis and its effect in common bile duct cannulation of ERCP, also to know the early level of ERCP of our hospital.[Methods]179consecutive patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography(ERCP) between January,2011to January,2012were prospectively enrolled. The patients were divided into two groups according to the presence (group A,59patients)or absence(group B,patients) of duodenal diverticulum. The frequencies of bile duct gallstones were compared between two groups. The site of the stones, the successful cannulation and complications rate were analyzed.[Results] Duodenal diverticulum were found in59of179cases.In group A,male was30and female was29,the average age was67years.The sum of duodenal diverticulum with choledocholithiasis were55patients. With primary bile common duct stone were8patients.In group B,there are57male patients, the rest are63female.The average age was57years.Successful cannulation was achieved in up to91.53%(54/59) and96.67%(116/120) in group A and B,respectively(P=0.139,Fisher0.158). The rate of PEP was11.86%in group A and8.33%in group B(P=0.574).There are no differences in Successful cannulation and rate of PEP in group A and group B.[Conclusion] The incidence of duodenal diverticulum increased with age.Duodenal diverticulum has a close relationship with biliary stones. There was no significant difference in success of ERCP between the two groups. |
