Backgroung: Chronic Constipation (CC) prevalence increased year by year, and theetiologic is complex and diverse, CC etiology characteristics in different age groupsmay differ.Aims: To analyze the characteristics of etiologic factors in Chronic Constipationpatients with different ages to explore the strategy for prevention and treatment ofCC.Methods: Randomly selected from June2012to June2013among369cases of thedepartment of gastroenterology, First Clinical Hospital of Shanxi Medical UniversityCC patients questionnaire were divided into three groups according their age: younggroup(18to40years)127cases,middle-age group(41to64years)158cases and oldgroup(>65years)84cases. Statistical analysis of etiology characterized.Results:(1)The proportion of CC patients with low-fiber diet, reduce food intake,abuse of laxatives phenomenon increased with increasing age(P<0.0125),but the ratesof patients with eating disorders, long-term suppress defecation, defecation is notfocused, consciously work or life stressed decreased with increasing age(P<0.0125).Reduction in water intake, lack of exercise is more common than in all ages, and theoccurrence of all ages was not statistically significant (P>0.05).(2)While the organiccause such as colon polyps (>2cm) and cancer, the diseases can cause CC,drug-induced factors increased significantly with increasing age (P<0.0125).(3)Psychological shows middle-aged and old women with CC sufferingfrom anxiety, depression higher than the young group(P<0.0125). CC patients withanxiety, depression in men increased with increasing age, but no difference between the age groups (P>0.05).(4)Predisposing factors for each age group are the mostcommon dietary habits(18.89%、30.93%、35.29%), where young group principalcauses of CC patients is dieting and irregular eating, middle-aged and old groupsmain causes of CC is gastric discomfort eating less.The feature of predisposingfactors is patterns of life or environmental change in young group,bad mood inmiddle-aged group, drug or disease-related in old group.After pregnancy, delivery,cesarean surgery lead to CC is more common in the young group, due tohysterectomy is more common in middle-aged and old groups.Conclusion: Youth groups should pay attention to poor eating habits, bowel habits,exercise, living or working pressure, patterns of life or environmental change.Middle-aged and elderly patients than the above, also need to pay attention to whethercombined with anxiety, depressionand, colon polyps and cancer, diseases can causeCC, drug-induced factors.Women in young group with CC must be noted whether dueto pregnancy, delivery,caesarean,have or not hysterectomy in middle-aged and oldgroups.
