Objective:To study the decreasing of folic acid, vitamin B12and increasing ofhomocysteine impacted on aged leukoaraiosis and the trend of folic, vitamin B12andhomocysteine to different leukoraiosis level.Analysis related factors of Leukoaraiosis.Methods:Selecting72cases with dizziness which was the chief symptom andwithout any positive signs of nervous system from neurology department ward ofdalian medical university between April in2013and January in2014.All of thepatients had MRI examination. We found36cases existed leukoaraiosis and took themas the experimental group.Others inexisted leukoaraiosis and took them as the controlgroup, but we matched the age and gender with the experimental group. In accordancewith Kinkel international classification,we divided the experimental group intoleukoaraiosis one level(LA1) group, leukoaraiosis two leve(LA2) group, leukoaraiosisthree level(LA3) group and leukoaraiosis four leve(LA4) group.Testing all patients’concentration of folic acid, vitamin b12and homocysteine.Collecting all patients’clinic information include age, gender, history of high blood pressure, history ofdiabetes,History of coronary heart disease, smoking history, drinking history, history oflacunar cerebral infarction.Comparing the level of folic acid, vitamin B12and homocysteine of LA group,LA1groyup and LA2group with control group, controlgroup and LA1group respectively by using t-test or rank-sum test.Studying therelated factors of leukoaraiosis by using chi-square and binomial logistic regressionanalysis. Results:We used chi-square test to test the difference of gender and age betweenLAgroup and control group, LA1group and control group,LA2group and LA1group,the results were no statistical difference between the groups (P>0.05). By using t-testto test the difference of folic acid, vitamin B12and homocysteine level between thegroups above, the results had significant difference (P <0.05).High bloodpressure, smoking, and lacunar cerebral infarction had the statistical difference betweenLA group and control group by using chi-square(P <0.05).Other factors such asdiabetes, coronary heart disease and alcohol had no statistically significant differencebetween LA group and control group (P>0.05). We found the factors such as highblood pressure, smoking, and lacunar cerebral infarction were independent risk factorsof leukoaraiosis.Conclusions:1. Occurrence of leukoaraiosis was connected with the decrease offolic acid, vitamin b12and increase of homocysteine. The more decrease of folicacid, vitamin b12and increase of homocysteine were correlation with the more seriousof leukoaraiosis.2.High blood pressure, smoking, and lacunar cerebral infarction werecorrelation with leukoaraiosis, and they were independent risk factors of leukoaraiosis.Diabetes, coronary heart disease and alcohol had nothing connection withleukoaraiosis.
