Aims:Firehawk stent is a kind of novel rapamycin eluting stent, which is improved on the basis of the original Firebird stent. Compared to the traditional DES with consisitent polymer, Firehawk is a novel abluminal groove filled biodegradable polymer rapamycin-eluting stent, which could theoretically avoid inflammatory effects of the long-standing drug coating, reduce the drug dose, thereby reducing the possibility of thrombus, and improving the prognosis of the patients. We decided to evaluate the tissue coverage between Firehawk stent and XienceV stent by Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT) at9months afer PCI.Methods:Enroll the patient,who suffered unstable angina(UA) and receive coronary angiography from March2011to April2011,and assign them to Firehawk group and XienceV group.At9months after PCI,we perform anthor CAG and OCT to get the OCT image. We catch a cross-section every5frames within the stent segment.In each cross-section,we count the number of structs,observe the coverage of each stent stuct,messure thickness of neointimal,and calculate the luminal loss.The primary endpoint is the coverage of stent structs.The secondary endpoint is the average thickness of neointimal and luminal loss.Result:7patients were distributed to Firehawk group and another7patients to XienceV group. All of them performed OCT when follow up to9months afer PCI. Altogether,we analyzed733cross-sections and8865stent structs. Firehawk group:360cross-sections and4023stent structs, XienceV group:373cross-sections and4842stent structs, Firehawk group compared to XienceV group, coverage of stent structs has no difference(99%vs.98.8%,p=0.425), complete coverage of structs is higher(96.8%vs.96.9%,p=0.033), incomplete coverage of structs is lower(2.2%vs.2.9%,p=0.045), apperence of bare structs has no difference(1.0%vs.1.2%,p=0.425), average thickness of neointimal above struct has no difference (85.10+48.41um vs.83.90±49.30um,p=0.269), luminal loss has no difference[(13.69±4.41)%vs.13.44±4.16)%,p=0.440]Conclusion:Firehawk stent has the same coverage compared to XienceV stent when follow up to9months afer PCI.But Firehawk stent has a faster prosess of endothelialization,and more complete coverage. Firehawk stent and XienceV stent have the same effect to inhibit endothelial hyperplasia and prevent luminal loss.
