Objectives:To describe the levels of belongingness, problem solving ability and clinical practice performance among undergraduate nursing students; to analyze the differences of belongingness, problem solving ability and clinical practice performance in the general demographic characteristic; to investigate the relationship among belongingness, problem solving abilities and clinical practice performance.Methods:Questionnaires were used to investigate340undergraduate nursing students who were studying in the1class tertiary level hospital of Jilin Province. Research instruments were composed of general demographic characteristics, Belongingness Scale-Clinical Placement Experience (BS-CPE), Chinese Version of the Social Problem-Solving Inventory (C-SPSI) and Clinical Performance Self-rating Scale for Undergraduate Nursing Students (CPSSUNS) were used. The data collected was analyzed by Spss16.0. The statistical methods included statistical description, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis.Results:(1) The total score of undergraduate nursing students’belongingness was103.9±12.468, There were significantly different for the scores of self-efficacy dimension among undergraduates nursing students from different gender, major selection (P<0.05),there was significantly different for the scores of belongingness from satisfaction of nursing profession (P<0.05)(2) Undergraduate nursing students’rational problem solving, positive problem orientation, negative problem orientation, avoidance style, impulsivity\carelessness Style of s Chinese Version of the Social Problem-Solving Inventory scored16.57+3.706,17.33±3.601,14.1±3.292,15.06±4.460,10.46±2.961, there were significantly different for the scores of problem solving ability among undergraduates nursing students from whether the leader in class or student union, major selection and satisfaction of nursing profession (P<0.05)(3) The total score of Clinical Performance Self-rating Scale for Undergraduate Nursing Students was155.08±17.712, there were significantly different form different gender, whether the leader in class or student union, major selection, satisfaction of nursing profession and family economic status (P<0.05)(4) There were positive correlation among belongingness, problem solving ability and clinical practice performance.(r=0.396, P<0.01;r=0.392, P<0.01;r=0.489, P<0.01).Conclusion:(1) Undergraduate nursing students’belongingness was at the middle level. The scores of belongingness in different gender, major selection and satisfaction of nursing profession influence had difference.(2) Undergraduate nursing students’problem solving ability was at the middle level. The scores of problem solving ability in whether the leader in class or student union, major selection, satisfaction of nursing profession and family economic status had difference.(3) Undergraduate nursing students’clinical practice performance was at the middle level. The scores of clinical practice performance in different gender, whether the leader in class or student union, major selection, satisfaction of nursing profession and family economic status had difference.(4) Significant correlation was demonstrated between belongingness and problem solving ability, significant correlation was demonstrated between belongingness and clinical practice performance, significant correlation was demonstrated between problem solving ability and clinical practice performance. To improve the students’ clinical competence it is important to pay attention to cultivate belongingness and social problem-solving ability in the practice of education innovation.
