ObjectiveTo analyse the correlation of autoantibodies in the patients with Alopecia areata(AA) between gender, age, course of disease, severities of alopecia, history of relapse, syndrome differentiation, concomitant diseases, family history, efficacy and prognosis.MethodsThe study included266patients with AA, all the patients were measured with antinuclear antibodies (ANA), anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (ATPO) and thyroglobulin antibody(ATG).Collected patients’ medical history, recorded gender, age, severities of alopecia, history of relapse, syndrome differentiation, concomitant diseases, family history, revisited the patients lasting for3to6months. Evaluated the clinical efficacy, and statistically analysis the patients’clinical information according to immune test results.ResultsThe study included266cases,140(52.6%) males and126(47.4%) females. The ratio of male to female was1.11:1, the age ranged from5to77years, the mean year was32.51±13.4, the course of disease was from1day to12years, and there were114(78.1%) cases with mild AA and64(24.1%) cases with severe AA.The group with autoantibodies positive included120(45.1%) cases,53(44.2%) males and67(55.8%) females, the mean year of the patients was33.7±13.4, the median course of disease were4months, there were88(73.3%) cases with mild AA and32(26.7%) cases with severe AA.The group with autoantibodies negative included146(54.9%) cases,87(59.6%) males and59(40.4%) females, the mean year of the patients was33.1±13.7, the median course of disease was5months,there were114(78.1%) cases with mild AA and32(21.9%) cases with severe AA.The group with ANA positive included106(39.8%) cases,48(45.3%) males and59(40.4%) females, the mean year of the patients was33.6±13.7, the median course of disease was4months.There were74(69.8%) cases with mild AA and32(30.2%) cases with severe AA.The group with thyroid autoantibodies positive included30(11.3%) cases,8(26.7%) males and22(73.3%) females, the mean year was36.6±13.2, the median course of disease was2months. There were26(86.7%) cases with mild AA and4(13.3%) cases with severe AA.There were16(6.0%) cases both ANA and thyroid autoantibodies positive,3(18.8%) males and13(81.2%) females, the mean year was38.1±18.5, the median course of disease was2months. There were12(75.0%) mild AA cases,4(25.0%) severe AA cases. The titers of thyroid autoantibodies below10times the normal range (600U/ml) included16(6.0%) cases,3(18.8%) males and13(81.2%) females, the mean year was34.2±13.4. The median course of disease was1month. There were14(87.5%) cases with mild AA and2(12.5%) cases with severe AA.The titers of thyroid autoantibodies beyond10times the normal range (600U/ml) included14(5.3%) cases. There were5(35.7%) males and9(64.3%) females, the mean year was39.4±12.9.The median course of disease was1month. There were12(85.7%) cases with mild AA and2(14.3%) cases with severe AA.There were66(24.8%) cases with autoimmune diseases. There were33(50%) males and33(50%) females, the mean year was34.4±12.9. The median course of disease was1month. There were56(84.8%) cases with mild AA and10(15.2%) cases with severe AA.200(75.2%) cases without autoimmune diseases,107(53.5%) males and93(46.5%) females, the mean year was31.8±13.6. The median course of disease was4months.146(73.0%) mild AA cases,54(27.0%) severe AA cases. The patients accompanied with autoimmune diseases that with Allergic diseases accounted for16.4%, and autoimmune thyroiditis accounted for5.6%. ConelusionsIn the study, the patients with autoantibodies positive occurred frequently in the females (χ2=6.284, P=0.012), especially the thyroid autoantibodies (χ2=10.858, P=0.001).The majority of both ANA and thyroid autoantibodies positive cases were also the females(χ2=9.740, P=0.002). Spleen and kidney deficiency was the main syndrome in this group (χ2=9.730, P=0.021). There were no differences between the patients with titers of thyroid autoantibodies below600U/ml and above600U/ml.The patients associated with autoimmune diseases also had no differences between the others. The incidence of Allergic diseases in AA patient was16.4%, consistent with abroad. The incidence of autoimmune thyroiditis(5.6%)higher than ordinary people.
