Purpose:By using of EDI technique to compare choroidal and retinal thickness between early-phase AMD and healthy controls to evaluate the reliability and application value in diagnosing early-phase AMD with OCT. And discuss the relationship between CT with age, refraction error and axial length. Methods:Individuals after50y with early-phase AMD (n=20) and corresponding health people were’recruited. Related regular ophthalmic examinations have been done and EDI Oct images were obtained from all participants after pupil dilated. Choroidal thickness was gauged from retinal pigmentation epithelium to choroid-sclera interface and measured the thickness at a0.5mm to a maximum2.5mm from4crossed directions, nasally temporally inferiorly and superiorly. Age,refraction error and axial length have also been taken to the consideration. Results:The mean retinal thickness and choroidal thickness at the fovea are reduced in early-phase AMD, Mean choroidal thickness in early-phase AMD is197um(SD,60),and retinal thickness is188um(SD,27),while the control healthy group is269um(SD,46) and220(30um).The differences of the t test between2groups is significant in statistics(p<0.05).Conclusions:The mean retinal thickness and choroidal thickness at the fovea are reduced in early-phase AMD, and choroidal thickness seems to have inverse correlation with age and refrative error.
