Research objective:Enhanced Deep Imaging Coherent Optical Tomography(EDI-OCT)in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with NDR,to measure the choroidal thickness of macular fovea and nasal, temporal, superior and inferior choroidal thickness 1.5mm away from the fovea.,re-analysis of the correlation between the thickness change and the duration of the disease.Research method:From our hospital(Ningbo Seventh Hospital)ophthalmological outpatient and type 2 diabetes fundus consultation patients,81 cases of retinal complications(NDR stage)without retinal complications under fundoscopy after mydriasis were selected as the subjects of study, and record the time of illness. The patients were divided into three groups according to the time of illness: group A(29 cases)within 5 years, group B(27 cases)within 5 to 10 years, and group C(25 cases)over 10 years. The choroidal thickness of the macular fovea and the nasal, temporal, superior and inferior choroidal areas 1.5mm from the fovea were measured by Heidelberg optical coherence tomography.Thirty healthy persons of the same age, without diabetes and other diseases affecting choroidal thickness who received ophthalmic examination in our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. The basic data of the subjects were collected, including gender, eye type, date of birth(age)and so on.The collected data were statistically analyzed to explore the changes of choroidal thickness in patients with NDR diabetes mellitus and the correlation with the duration of the disease.Research findings:(1)Measurement data were expressed by mean ±standard deviation).Mean values were compared among groups using variance analysis.Choroidal thickness in different groups was significantly different in the central fovea of macula and the nasal, temporal, upper and lower parts of the fovea 1.5mm away from the central fovea.(2)The choroidal thickness in patients with less than 5 years was lower than that in the normal group at the nasal, temporal, upper and lower sides of the fovea 1.5mm away from the fovea, and the difference was statistically significant;the fovea thickness was lower than that in the normal group, but the difference was not statistically significant.(3)The choroidal thickness of the patients in the 5~10-year group was lower than the normal group in the fovea of the macula and 1.5 mm from the fovea. The thickness of the fovea and the temporal side were statistically significant.(4)The choroidal thickness in the macular fovea and the nasal, temporal, superior and inferior areas 1.5mm from the fovea were significantly lower than those in the normal group, and the difference was statistically significant.(5)The choroidal thickness of the 5-10 years group was lower than the <5 year group in the fovea of the macula. The difference was not statistically significant. The thickness on the nasal side, the temporal side, the upper side and the lower side was higher than the <5 year group, among them, only the thickness difference below is statistically significant.(6)The choroidal thickness in the 10-year group was lower than that in the < 5-year group at the nasal, temporal, upper and lower fovea and 1.5mm away from the fovea. There were significant differences in the fovea thickness and temporal thickness between the two groups.(7)The choroidal thickness in the 10-year group was lower than that in the 5-10-year group at the nasal, temporal, upper and lower sides of the macular fovea and 1.5mm away from the fovea.(8)All subjects(including the normal group)were included in the study. It was found that choroidal thickness was negatively correlated with age at the nasal, temporal, upper and lower sides of the macular fovea and 1.5mm away from the fovea, and there was no significant correlation with gender.(9)All patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were included in the study. It was found that choroidal thickness was negatively correlated with age at the nasal, temporal, superior and inferior macular fovea and 1.5mm away from the fovea. There was no significant correlation with gender.Research conclusion:Before the onset of diabetic retinopathy in type 2 diabetes mellitus, that is,NDR stage, the choroidal thickness has been reduced to varying degrees.Through EDI-OCT examination of diabetic patients, the size of choroidal thickness is measured, which can predict the occurrence and development of early DR,provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment decision-making,and provide help for comprehensive analysis of the condition of diabetic patients.
