Objective:To know the distribution and prognosis of initial serumimmunoglobulins and C3in childhood primary nephrotic syndrome.Methods:426patients during their first episode of PNS who wereadmitted to the nephrology department of our hospital prior to steroidtreatment, from January,2003to Decembre,2012were retrospectivelyanalysed. The following data were gathered by chart review:immuneglobulins,C3,age,sex,clinical classification, histopathologyreport, response to glucocorticoids therapy, prognosis and so on. Therelationship of immuneglobulins and C3with others were investigated.Results:1.The level of IgG,IgA,IgM,IgE,C3in PNS children are all growingwith age as healthy children, from the beginning to adult level there is aprocess of gradual development.2.In childhood PNS,the IgG level was lower, IgM,IgE level washigher than age-matched normal controls.3.Patients with steroid sensitive and who were frequent relapses had significantly higher levels of IgE in comparison with the cases of SRNSand non-relapsers.4.Patients with NNS had lower level of C3compared with SNS whowas older than1years old. Conclusion: PNS correlates with immunoglobulinsabnormalities.Higher serum IgE level, higher SSNS,higher frequentrelapse. The lower C3level,the poorer outcome.
