Studies On The Chemical Constitutents Of Pedicularis Uliginosa Bunge, Pseuduvaria Indochinensis Merr. And Croton Euryphyllus W. W. Smith

Plant of the genus Pedicularis L.(Scrophulariaceae), herbage, consists of about600species in the world, which is a large genus in the dicots, widely distributed in Arctic and near-Arctic area in the northern hemisphere, many distributed in temperate and alpine zones. About more than300species mainly distributed in southwest of China. Previous studies revealed that the plants of this genus mainly contain phenylpropanoids, iridioids and flavonoids, part of which also display effects of antitumor biological activity.Plant of the genus Pseuduvaria (Annonaceae), trees and shrubs, consists of about17species in the world, widely distributed in southeast of Asian and1specie distributed in Yunan province of China. Previous studies revealed that the plants of this genus mainly contain alkaloids.Plant of the genus Croton (Euphorbiaceaec), trees and shrubs, consists of about750species in the world, widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions and19species distributed in south of China. Previous studies revealed that the plants of this genus mainly contain diterpenoids.To seek compounds with new structures, we investigated Pedicularis uliginosa Bunge, Pseuduvaria indochinensis Merr. and Croton euryphyllus W. W. Smith collected from China. The chemical constituents were isolated by silica gel column chromatography (CC), reversed-phase silica gel column chromatography (RP-18), the preparation of thin-layer chromatography (PTLC), Sephadex LH-20gel column chromatography, MCI gel column chromatography and other means for separation. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of modern spectroscopic methods:IR、HR-EI-MS、1D NMR (1H NMR,13C NMR、 DEPT、NOE)、2D NMR (1H-’H COSY、HSQC、HMBC), combined with comparison with authentic samples or the data from literature.Twenty-two compounds are isolated and elucidated from Pedicularis uliginosa Bunge. They were identified as iridoids, xanthones, and triterpenoids etc. And five of them were new compounds (1.1-1.5). And eleven compounds were isolated and elucidated from Pseuduvaria indochinensis Merr. and one of them was new compound (2.1). And eleven compounds were isolated and elucidated from Croton euryphyllus W. W. Smith, all of which were known.In the end, the article gives a general overview about the research on the plant of Pedicularis L.
