Objective:Through investigating the self-efficacy sense and turnover intention of operating room nurses in secondary and above public hospitals in Zhuzhou City, this study aims at understanding the levels of self-efficacy sense and turnover intention of the nurses, analyzing the effects of different characters on self-efficacy sense and turnover intention and the relatives between self-efficacy sense and turnover intention, and providing scientific evidence for medical institutions to stabilize the operating room nurses group, reduce the resignation of operating room nurses and ease the short of the nurse staff.Methods:This study utilizes a cluster sampling method.19secondary and above public hospitals and273operating room nurses have been sampled. Questionnaires are used in this research with personal information questions, general self-efficacy scale (GSES) and turnover intention questions. The data is analyzed by SPSS17.0and methods of analysis include description analysis, T Test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Results:The score of self efficacy sense is26.21±5.42, and the differences of self efficacy sense are significant among different ages, sexes, marital statuses, education levels, working years, degrees of hospitals, types of employment, titles of nurses (p<0.05). The scores of group of31-40and50above are higher than group of20-30; Male is higher than female; Married is higher than unmarried; Bachelor degree is higher than college degree; First hospital is higher than secondary hospital; Formally employed is higher than contract hired; Deputy director of the nurse is the highest and the working years above20is the highest. The score of turnover intention of the nurses is15.48±3.46, and the differences of turnover intention are significant among different ages, sexes, education levels, working years, degrees of hospitals and titles of nurses (p<0.05). The score of turnover intention of male nurses is higher than female nurses; Secondary hospital is higher than first hospital; The age of50and above is the lowest group of age; Bachelor degree is the highest group of education levels; Working years of20and above is the lowest group of working years; Deputy director of the nurse is the lowest group of titles. Also the self efficacy sense and turnover intention is negative correlated (p<0.05). The higher the self efficacy sense is, the lower possibility of quiting jobs.Conclusions: The level of self efficacy sense of operating room nurses in secondary and above public hospitals in Zhuzhou is relatively high and there is no strong willing of resignation. The level of education, age, title, sex and working years are the most important factors which can influence the self efficacy sense. The degree of hospital, working years and sex are the most important factors which influence turnover intention. Self efficacy sense and turnover intention are negative correlated. The hospitals and managers need to improve the self efficacy sense of nurses in order to reduce the willing of resignation.
