Traditional Chinese medicine goes back to ancient times, originatedby Fu Xi who made nine classical needles, Shennong who tasted hundredsof grasses and found herbs and Yi Yin who developed decoction during thelegend period. Being a precious treasure of the Chinese nation’s fight withdisease in the production practice for a long time, the effective practicestrategy and vast wealth of knowledge about traditional Chinese medicinecontains a profound scientific connotation. Fostered by outstandingtraditional Chinese culture of the Chinese nation, the unique traditionalChinese system has made indelible contributions to the advancement ofhuman reproduction prosperity and the promotion of human health.From its emergence to the development and its palmy days for thousands of years, traditional Chinese medicine’s development at home has experienced full of frustrations and vicissitudes after entering the modern age. Traditional Chinese medicine encountered the unprecedented negation and degeneration and even incredibly bizarre experience to be abandoned. In2006, Zhang Gongyao published Farewell Tra ditional Chinese Medicine and Herbalism and sparked a new round of dispution between scientism and Chinese medicine. Then it lannche-d10,000-signature mark and prompted the withdrawal of traditionalChinese medicine and herbalism from the national Medicare System.These movements aroused wide public concern both inside and outside of healthcare industry. Ministry of Health harshly rebuked this conduct was historical illiteracy and ignorance and of the important roleplayed by traditional Chinese medicine in real life.Although the reputation of traditional Chinese medicine has beenrestored, what we should rethink profoundly the reason why traditionalChinese medicine has not been commonly believed to be significant.By using document research, comparative analysis and in-depthinterviews, this thesis aims to demystify the actuality of the traditionalChinese education, medical treatment and scientific research to find out theproblems in the development of traditional Chinese medicine and the wayout.This thesis falls on five chapters. The first part explains thebackground, purpose, significance and methodology of this research.Chapter Two illustrates the scientificity of traditional Chinese medicine tofully affirm the contemporary value of traditional Chinese medicine.Chapter Three focuses on the discussion of issue on traditional Chinesemedicine education, medical care management and scientific research, based on the enumeration and analysis of status andcountermeasure.Chapter Four touches upon the problems in thedevelopment of traditional Chinese medicine itself, the solution to whichlies in reform in higher education, health care industry and scientificinstitute as its main form and carrier. Given all these disadvantages, somefeasible suggestions have been put forward in the last chapter on the basisof the above analysis.
