Study On The Treatment Based On Syndrome Differentiation Of The Exterior-interior Concurrent Disease In Treatise On Exogenous Febrile Diseases

Objective In order to discuss the basic principle of treatment based on syndrome differentiation and the practical experiences of the theory of the exterior-interior concurrent disease (EICD) in Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases. In this paper, we will perform the detailed analysis and the summary EICD from the basic connotation, theoretical origins, formative factor, the attack way, classification and characteristics of syndrome-treatment. Expecting later generations could grasp subtle place of the treatment based on syndrome differentiation of the EICD, which could offer some guidance and enlightenment to clinical practice of Chinese medicine.Methods This study will analysis and conclude syndrome differentiation of exterior-interior and EICD in Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases by the method of original study, information retrieval, theoretical research. Then we will reveal the effective method and practical application of treatment, according to the exploration of the connotation of EICD and the analysis of the relative medical cases. We will also elaborate the idea of EICD,which was inheritted and developed by later generations.Result EICD means that the patient both suffer from the disease of Taiyang superficies-syndrome and the dysfunction of inner viscera. Treatment of EICD can be divided into three aspects. First, if disease of the interior in EICD is not urgent or the cause of the disease tends to the exterior of the body. We should treat it from the exterior first. Second, if disease of the interior of the body in EICD is urgent, we should treat the interior first. Third, if the degree of seriousness of exterior and interior is slow, we should treat the exterior and the interior of the body simultaneously. The feature of such case is to seek and check the pathogenesis of diseases. We should master the dynamic change of the disease, protect the healthy atmosphere, prevent the impairment of body fluid, analysis both pulse manifestation and symptoms comprehensively, and distinguish the exterior from the interior clearly.Conclusion Based on the exterior-interior concurrent disease in Inner Canon of Huangdi, which focuses the treatment of the first onset, Prof. Zhang has confirmed the significance of the syndrome differentiation of exterior-interior and set up a theoretical system of the therapeutic principle and method in his book, which system can be suitable for the treatment of the exterior-interior concurrent disease. In the practical application of EICD, Prof. Zhang provided both the macroscopic guidance and specific analysis. On the one hand, the treatment according to syndrome differentiation of EICD improved and perfected the principle and method of the treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine. On the other hand, from another view, it also explained that the book of Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease was not the monograph for exterior syndrome. The treatment based on Syndrome Differentiation of the EICD in Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases is one part of academic thoughts of Prof. Zhang, which provided with clinical value according to the presriptions from his book and later generation and the relative medical cases. During Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment, we must distinguish the exterior from the interior clearly. When the location of disease is not distinguish, exterior is treated as interior, or interior is treated as exterior, the patient’s condition can be worsened and complicated.
