| Objective:To investigate the effects of Ethanol Extract of Pomegranate Peel (EEOPP) on the rats with diabetes. Methods:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, low-dose group (1.2g/kg), middle-dose group (2.4g/kg), high-dose group (4.8g/kg) of the EEOPP, positive control group (2.4g/kg). Model of diabetes was established by a high fat diet with intraperitoneal injection of streptozotic into male SD rats at a low dose, the rats in medicine-treated groups were orally given the EEOPP or metformin by gavage for4weeks, respectively. The effects of EEOPP on fasting blood glucose (FBG), blood lipid, Adiponectin, Leptin and TNF-a of rats were investigated. Results:the middle-dose group (2.4g/kg) and high-dose group (4.8g/kg) of EEOPP significantly reduced the fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, Leptin and TNF-a levels, increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and Adiponectin levels. Conclusion:the EEOPP can reduce blood glucose and lipid. |
