Objective:To exploring the brain microstructure changes in patients with depression by using diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI),and collecting disquisitive date for research pathogenesis of Depression. Methods:Collecting28confirmed Depression cases in our hospital and28healthy volunteers and then examining their brains with diffusion kurtosis imaging after routine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).The area-of-interest are the bilateral superior frontal gyrus, the bilateral middle frontal gyrus, the bilateral inferior frontal gyrus, the white matter in brain, the genu of corpus callosum and the splenium corporis callosi of the bilateral temporosphenoid lobe and the bilateral occipital lobe. The Mean kurtosis (MK), the fractional anisotropy (FA) and the mean diffusion (MD) of each area-of-interest are measured. Results:The FA value of the bilateral temporal lobe of the case group is significantly lower than the control group. There are significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05). The MK value of the bilateral superior frontal gyrus and the temporo sphenoid lobe of the case group are significantly lower than the control group. There are significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05). The MD value of each encephalic region of the case group between the control group. There are no significant differences between the two groups (P>0.05). The FA value of the bilateral superior frontal gyrus, the bilateral middle frontal gyrus, the bilateral inferior frontal gyrus, the genu of corpus callosum and the splenium corporis callosi of the case group between the control group. There are no significant differences between the two groups (P>0.05).The MK value of the bilateral middle frontal gyrus, the bilateral inferior frontal gyrus, the bilateral occipital lobe of the case group between the control group. There are no significant differences between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion:DKI technique can reflect the subtle structural gradation in emotion cerebrumwith depression cases and healthy volunteers, thus providing last time information for the pathogenesis and imaging evidence of depression.
