Dental Unit is the infrastructure of carrying out oral healthcare services and oneof the most important equipments in dental hospital&clinic. With the continuousimprovement of living standards, people are more and more emphasizing on oralhealth.Their needs on oralhealth are increased from a simple treatment to oralhygiene,and put forward higher requirements on the quality of oralhealth care. In oralmedical services, the technical care and other human services of staff need to besupported by the well-designed medical equipment and a good medical environmentwhich provided the best experience to the oral physicians and patients to ensure thesmooth conduct of oral health care at the same time improve the quality of medicalcare. With advanced functionality and the design of humanized, Dental Unit will playan increasingly active and important role in the Dental Hospital and clinics. It’s also akey factor for dental hospitals, clinics to attract more patients in the fierce competitiveenvironment, to establish and maintain the competitive advantage. Therefore, thispaper takes the form of dental units as a object of study, by exploring a series offactors which impact on the form design of Dental Unit, eventually creates anefficient, comfortable system of oral health care products fo the oral doctors andpatients.Firstly, this article compares the domestic and international market conditionsand design status of Dental Unit, analyses the types of oral disease and its treatment,summarizes the the development of Dental Unit, and conducts investigations of oralhospitals, clinics both in Zhangzhou and Xiamen city, collects the practical problemsencountered by dentists and patients’ inconvenience to explore the factors of DentalUnit impacting on the dentists and patients. Because of continuous working with longhours and operating on fixed position, dentist are easy to suffer from the "threevertebral disease", and the current design of Dental Unit ignores the dentist’ usagewhich makes operational efficiency is not high, affects the treatment effect. The oralpatients pay more attention to medical equipment and environment than the dentist’stechnical skills and attitudes of medical care. Comfortable environment and highlyhumanity forms of Dental Unit can greatly ease the psychological stress of patients,enhance patient’s trust sense of dental hospitals. This article takes the user’s emotional needs as the base of form design, from the respective positions, characteristics,cognitive style, aesthetic, psychological, and cultural differences of operator (doctor)and recipient (patient) to consider the design elements, and then summarizes my ownviews on the form design, presents the future development trends of Dental Unit.There are still large gaps of oral medical equipment between domestic andabroad. How to improve the competitiveness of the domestic dental equipment is aprominent issue to us, and form design as a means of achieving the products’ marketvalue and use value has a great role in promoting the oral medical equipment industry.It is worth attention of the business community. This paper will help improve thedesign level and enhance their market competitiveness of dental units and relatedmedical equipment industry through the research of Dental Unit’s form design,meanwhile,provide the initial design specifications of Dental Unit as productdesigner’s reference of medical equipment design in the future.
