During the construction process, health risks of construction emloyees are verynotable due to the fact that construction industry is featured of heavy labor intensity,outdoor working and tough working sites. The occupational health of constructionemployees is drawing attention from many aspects. Government and relevantdepartments have promulgated a series of laws and regulations and constructionenterprises are beginning to introduce OHSAS certification standard and HSEmanagement system, which means occupational health management in constructionindustry in China has come to a new stage.To research the current situation of occupational health in construction industry, isto study how the construction working condition influences the health of constructionemployees and how the enterprise and employees react to improve the workingcondition. It is called occupational health as to employees while for the enterprise, it isknown as management performance. By analysis of OHSAS, five influencing factors ofoccupational health management performance are identified, which are awareness ofemployees, behavior of employees, judgment and plan of enterprise, operation ofenterprise and supervision and feedback of enterprise according to the Deming Model.By the method of structural equation model, a relation model of influencing factorsand management performance is built, regarding the five above influencing factors andone management performance as latent variables. Corresponding to the six latentvariables,45observed variables are identified, combined with the OHSMS and featuresof construction industry. Two sets of questionnaires are developed, one for employeesand the other for employers in construction enterprises. Preliminary analysis of the dataof questionnaires helps understand the current situation of occupational healthmanagement performance and find out problems. From perspectives of employees andemployers, we can know the awareness and behavior patterns of them.Based on the research of current situation, structural equation model is used toanalyze the influencing path of occupational health management performance. It isfound that, five influencing factors, awareness of employees, behavior of employees,judgment and plan of enterprise, operation of enterprise, and supervision and feedback of enterprise, all have effects on the management performance in different ways.Among them, awareness of employees is the key point, which could bring forth themost significant performance improvement. Employees should enhance their careercompetence and improve their knowledge hierarchy, especially on the laws andregulations and enterprise policy. Enterprise can only affect awareness of employees asthe intervening variable, to promote management performance. The specific operationsand measures, publicity, and education of occupational health, are the most direct andeffective ways. In the enterprise strategy level, macro control should be focused on andthe practical guidelines or standards for occupational health could bring forth the mostimprovement of management performance.
