ObjectiveIn this study, to explore the effect of the low decibel infrasound (2~25Hz/70dB) that shorttime exposure on the ovarian function in non-pregnant SD rats by observation the structure ofovary and determination of the estradiol, testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone andluteinizing hormone levels in serum. To investigate the effect of the low decibel infrasound (2~25Hz/70dB) that short time exposure on the embryo and neonatal rats in gravidity mice bymeasuring the estriol (E3) and progesterone hormone in serum and recording neonatal ratsrelated indicators, such as the number of the newborn mouse, body length, tail length, bodyweight, survival rate of birth,3day survival rate, sex ratio, and so on.MethodsThere were forty SD female rats and six SD male rats taken as test subjects. Thenrandomized and fed them for two days. The first experiment,16female rats were randomlydivided into2groups on average: the control group A1and the low decibel infrasound group A2.The method of low decibel infrasound treatment was30minutes each time,2times a day, a totalof20days. Then to take and process the ovaries and blood of the rats after anesthesia.Thenobserved the structure of ovary organization under the light microscope after stained with HEand detected the estradiol, testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone inserum by radioimmunoassay. The second experiment, the remaining24females and6maleswere mated. Then the18pregnant rats were equally divided into3groups: the blank group B1,the low decibel infrasound group B2that treated by low decibel infrasound was30minutes eachtime,2times a day, from1to20days of pregnancy, the low decibel infrasound group B3thattreated by low decibel infrasound was30minutes each time,2times a day, from7to20days of pregnancy. The serum estriol and progesterone were checked after post-pregnant6days,12daysand18days. Then observed the neonatal rats related indicators after the pregnant rats delivery, such as the number of the newborn mouse, body length, tail length, body weight, survival rate ofbirth,3day survival rate, sex ratio, and so on.ResultsThe first experiment: there was no significant difference (P>0.05) of estradiol, testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone in serum between control group A1andlow decibel infrasound group A2. There were many different follicles, but no evident differencesin quantity and morphology. However, the blood vessels were obviously dilated for the A2group.The second experiment: there had no statistical significance of the estriol, progesteronehormone in serum among group B1, low decibel infrasound group B2and B3. The number ofoffspring, body length, tail length, survival rate of birth,3day survival rate and the sex ratio ofthe neonatal rats were no significant difference (P>0.05) among B1, B2and B3groups.Compared with B1, the neonatal rats weight of B2and B3increased significantly (P <0.05) andno significant difference between B2and B3groups (P>0.05).Conclusion1. Low decibel infrasound could increase the rat’s ovarian blood supply, but has nosignificant effect on the endocrine function of ovaries and the development of the follicles.2. Low decibel infrasound has no obvious effect on hormone levels of pregnant rats, whichhad no significant effect on the embryo. There is speculation that the exposure of low decibelinfrasound is safe for pregnant women.3. Low decibel infrasound could increase the neonatal rats, weight, but the number ofoffspring, body length, tail length, birth survival rate,3day survival rate, sex ratio has noobvious influence.
