Hepatopathy is a common and frequently-occurring disease. As a result of the rapiddevelopment of economy and fast-paced life along with changed diet structure anddeteriorated environment, it witnesses a yearly increase in the incidence of various typesof hepatopathy. Today the existing ways to deal with hepatopathy show demerits for theirgreat damage to health, poisonous side-effect and high price of themselves. Thus it isvaluable to focus on developing a type of effective and cheap drugs with low toxicity inthe field.Anoectochilus roxburghii is a kind of widely-used medicinal plant with manyparticular pharmacological effects. But few studies are concerned with its hepatoprotectiveeffect, active ingrediernt and functioning mechanism. In this regard, we studied thehepatoprotective effect. Meanwhile, we researched its active ingredient of this effect. Finally, we made an evaluation for Anoectochilus, which could provide theoretical basisand scientific evidences for further developing drugs concerned.1. We built a model, including alcoholic liver injury and CCl4liver injury of mice, tostudy the hepatoprotective effect of Anoectochilus extracts. By observing the liver tissuebiopsy and detection physiological indicators of serum and liver tissue, we concluded thatthe aqueous extracts of Anoectochilus helps to prevent different cases of liver injury. When it’s dose reaches4g/kg, it can effectively treat liver damage, predictably by meansof scavenging free radicals, stabilizing cell membranes and inhibiting lipid peroxidation.2. We conducted a simple inquiry to the material basis of the Anoectochilus extractswith hepatoprotective effect. It followed that Anoectochilus alcohol extractsand ethanol sediments are effective but make no difference on the alcoholic liver injuryof mice, suggesting that the active substance may be polysaccharides and flavonoid.3. We evaluated the safety of Anoectochilus extracts. And by long-term feeding mice,we found that Anoectochilus extracts with no significant effects on weight, organs of miceand so on. It’s safe to use Anoectochilus often.
