Objective: The aim of this study is to use quantum dots as fluorescent probes tomark and trace nickel ions for real-time optical imaging in vivo. The CdSe/CdSquantum dots were synthesized and coated with polyphosphazenes to attach to nickelions. Methods: The CdSe/CdS core-shell quantum dots were synthesized and examinedfluorescence properties and crystal structure by UV-Vis spectrum, PL spectrum, X-raypowder diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The CdSe/CdS quantumdots were coated with polyphosphazenes on its surface, getting the composite productCdSe/CdS@PPA. Nickel ions were adsorbed to CdSe/CdS@PPA from ion solution.Results:①The CdSe/CdS quantum dots showed stable fluorescence properties. The emission wavelength is at about620nm. The absorption wavelength is a widewave crest less than500nm.②The fluorescence properties and crystal structure ofCdSe/CdS@PPA did not change significantly by being coated with polyphosphazenes.③Nickel ions can be adsorped by CdSe/CdS@PPA. The adsorption percentage ofNickel ion is44.2%compared to the initial concentration after5hours.Conclusion: CdSe/CdS quantum dots can be combined with nickel ions by usingpolyphosphazenes, as a fluorescent probe to mark and trace nickel ions in vivo.
