ObjectiveIn this study, two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography to evaluate patients before and after ventricular septal defect occlusion of left ventricular morphology and function.Discussion after transcatheter closure of ventricular septal defect in patients near the mid-term recovery of left ventricular morphology and function.MethodsFrom February 2013 to October 2014,we chose 30 patients which were diagnosed with congenital heart disease with ventricular septal defect at the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College, including 17 males and 13 females, aged 3 to 16 years, mean 7.5 ± 5.6 years. All of above 30 patients were successfully implemented ventricular septal defect occlusion. All patients were performed with TTE to measures left ventricular end-systolic diameter(LVESD), left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD), left ventricular end-systolic volume(LVESV), left ventricular end-diastolic volume(LVEDV), left ventricular stroke volume(LVSV), left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), left ventricular fractional shortening(LVFS) at one day before the occlusion. Then in the three days 、 three months 、 six months after the closure respectively repeat the data collection.Throught the above data comparison and analysis,to evaluate changes in ventricular septal defect in patients undergoing pre- and postoperative left ventricular morphology and function.Results1.TTE evaluation of preoperative and postoperative left ventricular morphology changes: Compared with the preoperative the LVEDD、LVESD、LVEDV、LVESV、LVSV after three days 、 three months and six months were gradually retracted, thedifference was statistically significant(P <0.05).2.TTE evaluation of preoperative and postoperative closure of left ventricular systolic function changes:The LVEF and LVFS were decreased in three days, three months and six months after closure than preoperative, while no significant difference was found among in three days, three months and six months after closure. The difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion1.Ventricular septal defect occlusion can effectively relieve abnormal shunt between left and right ventricular, reduce left ventricular volume overload, make the left ventricular morphology and function reversed in a timely manner and gradually returned to normal levels.Echocardiography plays an important role in the postoperative follow-up and functional assessment of ventricular septal defect, is an intuitive, safe and effective method.
