| ObjectiveCompared with the controls, the curative effect of acupuncture at crossing points of Qiao meridian in treating insomnia was observed. We tend to investigate the clinical efficacy of the study, during which we mean to explore the mechanism of this study from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective. In the end, we would like to show a new kind of clinical acupuncture treatment in treating insomnia.MethodWe selected 60 eligible patients suffering from insomnia in this study, and all of them were divided into two groups randomly, the treatment group (acupuncture at crossing points of Qiao meridian) and the control group (commonly acupuncture),30 cases in each group. The treatment was totally 8 times for two courses and must be completed within 4 weeks. There were at least two days between every two treatment. The curative effect was evaluated by the PSQI scale before the course, at the end of the course.Results60 cases were recruited into the study, and all of them were treated completely. No one was dropped out of the study. Finally,60 cases were included in the statistical analysis.1. Before the treatment, there was no statistical discrepancy (P>0.05) between the two groups in the baseline characteristics as well as the score of PSQI, so all above of the two groups were comparable.2. By comparison of the total scores and different components of PSQI in each group before and after treatment, we found that statistics in the study were statistically comparable and significant (P<(0.05), and the total scores of PSQI declined significantly in both two groups (P<0.05), which had statistical difference, and the scores from every aspect of PSQI before the treatment was higher than that after the treatment. The results showed that the treatment group had better effect than the control group after treatment, which had statistical (P<0.05). However, it seemed there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of sleep quality and daytime dysfunction (P>0.05).3. At the end of the course, the number of recovered of 30 patients in the treatment group was 5,13 improved significantly,7 worked, others invalid, which made a total effective clinical rate of 83.33%, while a total effective clinical rate in the control group was 70.00%.ConclusionBoth of the groups had precise effect in treating insomnia and there were significant improvements in the assessment of all ingredients in PSQI. The effect of treatment group was better than the control group, and acupuncture at crossing points of Qiao meridian in treating insomnia is worthy of promotion. |
