Objecti ves:Through clinical randomized controlled trials (RCT), with reference to the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale (PSQI), this research was carried out by comparing the clinical efficacy of the theatment for Insomnia of two methods. One method which was the acupuncture theatment for insomnia based on ren du yin yang qiao meridiums, another which was western medicine Estazolam treatment of insomnia. The aim is to objectively evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment of insomnia, to expand the idea of acupuncture treatment of this disease and to further shorten the course of treatment of this disease, improve the cure rate and reduce the relapse rate. This research can provide experimental basis for acupuncture mechanism research and lay a certain foundation for the development of Chinese medicine.Method:This study was a prospective case observational study. fistly, we screened104cases of insomnia cases in line with the requirements of the study design From Guangzhou City Chinese Medicine Hospital. Then, these cases were randomly divided into two groups and the different treatment. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score was usedAs the main indicator for efficacy evaluation. Treatment group were treated with acupuncture methods based on ren du yin yang meridiums. The acupoints of the treatment groupare:DU20, DU26, RN3, RN4, RN12, RN24, BL1, BL62, KI6, GB20.All acupoints were connected with electro-acupuncture machine for30miniuts, every other day. The control group were treated with Western medicine estazolam before going to bed half an hour of oral estazolam 1-2mg once a day. The treatment must be completed within8weeks. Patients must complete the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) when they do the theatment first day and the last day. The sleep situation of patients were observed before and after treatment all the time. We collected experimental data of insomnia cases and create the database. All data in the computer was used SPSS17.0for data input, management and statistics. The inspection level α=0.05, two-sided test. The data was processed with descriptive analysis, pared t-test and x2test,etc.Result:1. The comparison of the baseline between the two groups was presented that the constituent ratios of gender, age, symdroms and disease course were equivalent (P>0.05).2. After the treating course, based on the score of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the two groups both have a significant effect. The data analysis showed that there was a significant difference of the overall efficacy between the two groups (P<0.05). It indicated that the treatment group was superior to the control group, particularly in improving the sleep quality, sleep time, sleep efficiency and daytime function. But it seemed there were no differences between the two groups about the score of the time to fall asleep(P>0.05)Conclusion:The treatment group has a more significant overall efficacy than the control group, particularly in improving the sleep quality, sleep time, sleep efficiency and daytime function. The two groups have the same efficacy on reducing time to fall asleep The acupuncture treatment of insomnia by such a theory is an effective method. It can be more effective in improving the clinical cure rate, improve the quality of life of patients. we should vigorously promote the application and in-depth study.
