BackgroundWith development of social economy, population aging and changing of disease spectrum, more and more people take attentions on chronic diseases. Which stroke, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes closely related to people’s lifestyle seriously threat to the health of the elderly, and in many countries they have become the main reasons to death, disability and increase for medical expenses. Awareness of the elderly are uneven that some do not want to spend money on physical examination, some are not active on treatment, and some replace drug treatment with health products. That increases the disease number of the elderly, especially chronic diseases. Therefore, more and more attention are taken to the study of stroke, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes and other diseases, in relevant departments. Through analyzing health status and influencing factors of above 65 years old in a community of Jinan, this paper finds chronic and promptly takes measures on common diseases and frequent diseases which makes the elderly establish correct health awareness, reduces the disease rate and increases stable rate of diseases.ObjectivesThrough analyzing the healthy results and lifestyle of the elderly above 65 years old, this paper knows about the health status of the elderly, grasps the main reason of main diseases and factors, provides scientific basis for developing health education programs and implementing health interventions, and finally achieves the goal of disease prevention and stability in diseases which have suffered.Specific study objectives include:1 describing the health results, lifestyle of the elderly and so on;2 analyzing health status of the elderly and main factors;3 proving advice on improving health level of the elderly and government policy.MethodsThe main research methods used in this study are literature and field investigation. By searching the relevant literatures and other relevant national regulations and standards documentation, this paper understands the health status of the elderly as well as the main factors of chronic diseases. Through on-site surveys this paper collects data of sample areas. By using unified examination table, we organize the rural elderly aged 65 and above in a community of Jinan to take physical examination, including basic personal information, lifestyle, medical history and family history, physical examination and laboratory examinations and so on. We use SPSS 18.0 software to record data, sort and analyze data, use frequency analysis method to make descriptive statistics, calculate the prevalence and use Logistic regression methods to make multivariate statistical analysis.Results408 rural elderly people over 65 years old are investigated, including 194 males, accounting for 47.55%; and 214 women, accounting for 52.45%.Main results are:1. The elderly of different sex was not statistically significant in age, exercise frequency, occupational history of exposure, morbidity, aprevalence of species to the hazards. The elderly of different sex was statistically significant in marital status, health insurance participation, income, diet, smoking frequency and drinking frequency.2. The most types of illness is three kinds in the 408 elders. There were 56 men and 75 women with one kind of illness. There were 17 men and 13 women with two kinds of illness. There were only 2 men and 4 women with three kinds of illness. Upon examination, the elderly of different sex was not statistically significant in prevalence of species.3. There were 133 people with varying degrees of chronic disease in the 408 elders. The rates of stroke, hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes prevalence were 11.51%,10.78%,6.86 and 3.43%.4. The logistics regression analysis founds that gender, marital status, the type of illness, history of exposure to occupational hazards, BMI index are the main factors affecting rural elders aged 65 or older.Conclusions and suggestion:This study detects four kinds of diseases including chronic stroke, hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes. Factors affecting the number of chronic disease include sex, marital status, the type of illness, history of exposure to occupational hazards, BMI index. For this result, it is recommended to carry out health education in the rural elderly, change unhealthy behaviors and lifestyles of the elderly, carry out periodic health examination, early detect, early diagnose, and change from passive treatment to active prevention.
