Research On Social Work Intervention In Cerebral Palsy Children Parents Service

Cerebral palsy children have the disadvantage of both age and vulnerable psychology, they are one of the social vulnerable groups who are most in need of help and care. Parents of cerebral palsy children have the problems of psychological difficulties, lacking capacity, social support, also become a concerned vulnerable groups. Not every family can afford rehabilitation expenses of children with cerebral palsy, time and energy spent on taking care of those children also affect their parents’lives. At present, many researchers just focus on the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy, they don’t take the parents as a special group. This paper take the parents of the children with cerebral palsy as a whole, from the perspective of social work, with qualitative research method, through social assistance system to support the families of children.Through advance practice course, the author contacts to the children with cerebral palsy and their families in Anhui Province Children’s hospital rehabilitation department, and conducts questionnaire and interview to 61 parents of the children, the author analyzes the difficulties of those parents through the way of interview, field observation, literature review, and get the fact that some informal supports of the parents of cerebral palsy children are mainly from relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors and so on, quasi-official support from the community, social organizations, from government agencies, public institutions (schools, hospitals) and other official support and from social workers to provide professional technical support. During the study, the author will continue into the family members of children with cerebral palsy rehabilitation and medical workers in hospitals, with the three major methods of social work to link their four support network, hoping to ease the way through professional families face children with cerebral palsy imbalance between the plight of social support networks and reduce the burden on parents of children with cerebral palsy and mental aspects of the material aspects. Based on the findings of the study, based on social work skills, theory and practice, the author puts forward some related suggestion of policy.
