Surgical Result Of Mini And Small Size Acoustic Neuroma And That After Radiotherapy

ObjectiveCompare surgical result of mini and small size acoustic neuroma with that after radiotherapy。 Material and MethodsFiltrating patients with acoustic neuroma from April 2012 ~August 2014。 We get 60 patients who have the first neurosurgery for their mini and small size acoustic tumor, and 28 patients who also have their first neurosurgery but have already taken a radiotherapy. We compare the surgical results of the two group patients from the rate of surgical resection, hearing-losing and function preservation of facial nerve. ResultsThe total removal rate of Surgery-alone group and preoperative-radiotherapy group are 95.00% and 85.71% respectively. P< 0.05,so the difference have statistical significance.The reservation rate of facial nerve to Surgery-alone group and preoperative-radiotherapy group are 85.00% and 46.43% respectively. P< 0.05,so the difference have statistical significance.The hearing loss rate of Surgery-alone group and preoperative-radiotherapy group are 51.67% and 75% respectively. P< 0.05,so the difference have statistical significance. ConclusionThe reservation rate and the hearing loss rate for mini and small size acoustic neuroma of surgery-alone group is higher and the hearing loss rate of it is lower. So we should choose surgery first for the mini and small size acoustic neuroma.
