Objective To investigate the controlling status of serum calcium, phosphorus and intact parathyroid hormone(i PTH) in the maintained hemodialysis patients in Bengbu. Methods Maintained hemodialysis patients who have dialyzed more than 3 months from the first and the second affiliated hospital of Bengbu Medical College were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. The demographic data, primary disease, complications, dialysis method, dialysis frenquency, dialysis duration were collected and serum calcium, phosphorus and i PTH were analyzed. The achivement of serum calcium, phosphorus and i PTH targets were calculated according to 2003 K/DOQI of Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral and Bone Disorder(CKD-MBD)clinical practice guidelines for bone metabolism and disease in chronic kidney disease. The relationship between i PTH and clinical data such as Hb, serum calcium, serum phosphorus, and multiplications were also analyzed. Also the clinical relational data of abnormal bone metabolism in patients with clinical symptoms and without symptoms were compared.Compared clinical relational data between the patients with diabetic nephropathy and without diabetic nephropathy. Results A total of 170 maintained hemodialysis patients were included in the study. In accordance with standards in K/DOQI CKD-MBD, 2003, 44.7% samples of Serum calcium concentration, 44.1% Serum phosphate, 71.3% calcium-phosphorus product, 27.6% i PTH met the standards, but only 5.8% met the standards in all indicators. The i PTH levels were negative correlation with age, Hb, serum calcium levels and positive correlation with serum creatinine levels. There is no statistical difference of serum calcium, serum phosphorus, calcium-phosphorus product, i PTH levels between patients with and without clinical symptoms. The patients of diabetic nephropathy have less i PTH(P=0.014)and serum phosphorus(P=0.003),but no statistical difference of serum calcium and calcium-phosphorus product to Compare with other renal diseased。Conclusions The controlling of serum calcium, phosphorus and i PTH levels in the maintained hemodialysis patients is not ideal in Bengbu city. These results suggested that lower serum calcium levels and lower hemoglobin levels may be involved in high i PTH.
