ObjectiveThrough studying Modified Ganlu Xiaodu recipe as an adjuvant therapy to treat syndrome of damp-heat in lung and spleen of hand-foot-mouth disease, this study aims to determine its effectiveness evaluation and observe its regulation on cellular immune function of children infecting hand-foot-mouth disease belong to syndrome of damp-heat in lung and spleen.MethodBeing in accordance with the inclusive criteria, sixty children who infecting hand-foot-mouth disease belong to syndrome of damp-heat in lung and spleen were randomly divided into control group(n=30) and treatment group (n=30). Both groups received antiviral drug ribavirin and basic necessary treatment for six days. In addition to that, the treatment group taking Modified Ganlu Xiaodu recipe. By establishing clinical observation table, we recorded clinical syndrome changes of the two groups children every day and detected lymphocyte subtypes, such as CD3+,CD4+, CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ respectively before and after 6 days treatment. After observation, data of clinical symptoms and lymphocyte subtypes indicators were dealt with statistics means.Result1. Compared two groups in terms of clinical curative effect:Both the total efficiency and Significant efficiency of the treatment group were better than the control group. (P=0.01; P=0.02)2. Compared two groups in terms of symptoms integral:The scores of two groups before treatment had no significant difference, but there were significant differences after treatment. The treatment group decreased more than control group in symptom integral. At the aspect of improving symptoms integral, the treatment group is better than that in control group(P<0.05).3. Compared two groups in terms of fever clearance time:The fever clearance time of the treatment group was (45.9±9.77) hours, while that of the control group was (52.4±14.00) hours. The fever clearance time of the treatment group was shorter than that of the control group (P=0.04).4. Compared two groups in terms of mental state improvement time:Mental state improvement time in the treatment group was (2.20±0.68) days, while that in the control group was (3.0±0.71) days. The mental state improvement time of the treatment group was shorter than that of the control group (P=0.01).5. Compared two groups in terms of onset time of erythra regression time: The onset time of erythra regression time of treatment group was (2.90±0.55) days, which of the control was (3.47±0.68) days. The treatment group in promoting skin rashes subside is better than that of the control group (P<0.05).6. Compared two groups in terms of secondary symptoms:Disappear rate and recovery time of secondary symptoms at the aspect of nasal congestion, cough, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea in both groups existed no significant difference. Appetite recovery time of the treatment group was (3.05±0.89) days and that of the control was (4.14±1.39) days, and the appetite recovery rate was 95% and that of the control was 68.1%. The treatment group is superior to the control group in improving appetite(P=0.047;P<0.05).7. Compared in terms of immunological indicators:Compared within group, the lymphocyte subtypes indicators CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ were all higher after treatment in treatment group, which CD8+ was decrease, the difference between them were statistically significant. In terms of Control group, the sets of CD3,CD4+, CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ were no statistically significant between before and after treatment. Compared between two group before treatment, the indicators were no statistically significant between treatment group and control. After treatment, the sets of CD3+,CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ in treatment group were all higher than control group (p<0.05), while CD8+ was lower than control group(P<0.05). There were statistically significant between them.ConclusionsCompared with routine treatment, the therapy combined Modified Ganlu Xiaodu recipe and routine have been verified as a effective clinical intervention to treat syndrome of damp-heat in lung and spleen of hand-foot-mouth disease and can improve CD3+,CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+, which proved its regulation on cellular immune function of damp-heat in lung and spleen of hand-foot-mouth children.
