Objective: Compared with the expression of B7H1 in trophoblasts and decidua of the nomal pregnancy in the first trimester,to investigate the expression of B7H1 in the unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion(URSA) and the probable pathogenesis of URSA.Methods: A total of 40 patients with a history of URSA were enrolled into the RSA group. A further 40 females who of normal pregnancy as control. All the cases were selected from archival material of the reproductive endocrinology clinic of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from July 2012 to December 2013. The distribution and expression of B7H1 protein in trophoblasts and deciduas are detected by western blot and immunohistochemistry. The t test was performed between the two group.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS statistics version 17.0.And the differences are considered to be statistically significant if P value<0.05.Results:1.B7H1 was both expressed in trophoblasts and deciduas in the URSA and the control in the first trimester. In the trophoblasts, B7H1 was both expressed in syncytiotrophoblast and cytotrophoblas, but the expression of B7H1 in the cytotrophoblas is higer than in the syncytiotrophoblast;2.The protein levels of B7H1 in the deciduas of the URSA group were significantly decreased compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions:The expression of B7H1 in the maternal-fetal surface play an important role in the maintenance of normal pregnancy, and its abnormal expression may be associated with recurrent spontaneous abortion.
